Selena Gomez And Taylor Swift: Are They Still Friends?

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have faced rumors of a possible fallout in recent months. However, on Sunday night, Swift expressed her support for Gomez on social media when the 24-year-old singer nabbed the title of Best Female Artist: Pop/Rock at the 2016 American Music Awards.

Although Swift was not photographed in Tennessee during Selena Gomez’s recent stint in rehab, the “Wildest Dreams” singer shared her support for her longtime friend on her Instagram story during Sunday’s event.

As Billboard magazine shared on November 21, Selena Gomez’s big win was captured by Swift on her social media page, and after uploading the clip of Gomez, Swift wrote, “Baby.” In the clip, Swift was heard screaming for several seconds as Gomez was seen hugging her friends before taking the stage and accepting her award.

Although Swift was not in attendance during the event, she made her support for Selena Gomez quite clear with her enthusiasm for her award win, which came just a short time after Gomez completed a treatment program in a Tennessee rehab.

Selena Gomez took a leave of absence from her busy career in August. At the time, the 24-year-old “Same Old Love” singer told People Magazine she was in need of some time off due to struggles with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, which she claimed were the result of her lupus diagnosis.

Shortly after Selena Gomez’s announcement was shared, a source told Hollywood Life that Swift was reportedly “proud” of her longtime friend for speaking up and taking the steps necessary to ensure her future happiness and success.

“[Taylor Swift] couldn’t be more supportive of [Selena Gomez’s] decision to postpone her tour. She is so proud of her for making her health her number one priority,” the source alleged.

Selena Gomez’s statement came in the midst of her “Revival World Tour” and meant that the remaining shows, which were expected to continue through December of this year, would be canceled as she tended to her mental health needs.

“The two have been in constant communication with each other” during Gomez’s tough time, a second source revealed to Hollywood Life of the musicians. “Taylor has made it clear to [Selena Gomez] that she has her back and can come spend time with her whenever she wants… Taylor wants to try and see Selena as soon as she can to give her a big hug.”

Although Swift has reportedly stuck by Selena Gomez throughout her hard times, rumors continue to swirl in regard to the two women possibly having a falling out. As Gack Hollywood reported on November 21, Swift allegedly did not visit Selena Gomez “even once when she was in rehab.”

“The reason? Her alleged patch up with Justin Bieber. [Selena Gomez]’s family and all her close ones have been furious with Bieber for his behavior with the songstress. Although no evidence is there, reports claimed Bieber contacted Selena during her stay in rehab. And Swift was so angry with the news of their reunion that she apparently wrote to Gomez that their friendship was over,” the outlet explained to readers.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s alleged contact hasn’t been confirmed, nor has any feud between Gomez and her longtime friend.

As for Selena Gomez’s future plans for her career, she has yet to reveal what she is planning to do next. In fact, she didn’t confirm she would be attending the 2016 American Music Awards over the weekend before she surprised her many fans with her first post-rehab appearance.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift’s last public appearance took place at the 2016 Grammy Awards in February of this year.
