Justin Bieber Fan Lawyers Up Over Punch, Singer Claims Self-Defense After Face Grabbed

A man claiming to be a Justin Bieber fan may sue after the superstar punched him for grabbing the singer’s neck and face in an incident before Bieber’s Purpose Tour show in Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday evening.

Dishing in a radio interview on Thursday, Kevin Ramirez, 18, who previously described himself as a public figure on his Instagram account and openly admits he touched the singer’s body, claims he feels “disappointed” and “very hurt” after his encounter with Bieber.

The Spaniard called the Canadian star’s punch “unnecessary,” before adding, “This matter is now in the hands of lawyers. They will deal with it. I can’t give out any more information at the moment.”

In a TMZ-obtained clip, Ramirez is seen thrusting one hand through the singer’s open car window and repeatedly touching Bieber’s neck and face while running alongside the moving vehicle.

In response to what can strictly be called a common assault, Bieber fired back with a jab on the man’s mouth, which apparently left Ramirez with a bloody lip.

At the time, the pop prince was being driven to the city’s Palau Sant Jordi for the latest stop on his Purpose World Tour.

Of the snafu, a source close to the “Sorry” singer told Gossip Cop, “Although it can’t be seen clearly in the video, a source close to Bieber exclusively tells Gossip Cop the man grabbed the singer by the face, and he hit back in self-defense.”

Back to the interview. Ramirez told the host he didn’t go to Bieber’s show as planned after he was punched.

“I didn’t think for one moment Justin was going to punch me,” the Spanish man said.

Referring to Justin interacting with fans at the Barcelona airport when he arrived on Monday, he continued, “He had been in the airport the day before talking with fans and I assumed he was happy to get close to us.”

“When I saw him I took the opportunity to put my hand through his car window and touch his shoulder and face in true ‘affectionate fan wants to touch his idol’ style,” Ramirez added, as if to suggest non-consensual physical contact with a stranger is normal.

“His [Bieber’s] car had stopped before he went by and he had seen us. He knew there were no barriers and he knew we were going to go up to him,” the Mataro resident went on.

Ramirez reasoned, “He could have brushed my hand away, anything apart from such an aggressive punch. I was left in a state of total shock. I couldn’t believe what he did.”

The man added, “I liked Justin but I come first. He doesn’t appear to like his fans now.”

The radio interview is far from the last that will be seen of Ramirez, who has been telling his story to TV shows and radio stations.

Appearing on a TV show in Madrid on Thursday, the young man tried to portray himself as the victim rather than the aggressor in the incident and said he couldn’t understand why Bieber punched him.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, a Twitter user @itakejustin, also known as Marion, attended the Barcelona show. She alleges that she witnessed Ramirez say he planned to hit Bieber if he met him.

The same fan claimed the guy who grabbed Bieber isn’t a fan but an attention seeker and says he attempted to choke the singer. A selection of her tweets can be read here.

Following one of Ramirez’s TV guest spots, a clearly indignant Marion tweeted,”‘The fan who…’ HE ISN’T A FAN HE’S LYING, ALL HE WANTED WAS TO BE ON TV.”

Referencing Ramirez’s alleged words on the TV show, the fan fumed, “‘I didn’t expect it at all, didn’t even see it coming’ Bi*** you literally tried to choke him I f*****g saw it.”

She added, “I’m done talking about it he doesn’t deserve the attention he’s getting and I already know the truth.”

Given that Ramirez put his hand on Bieber first, it remains to be seen whether he follows through and sues the heartthrob in a civil case for financial compensation.

For their part, Spanish police are not investigating the incident. A spokesman for the Mossos d’Esquadra said, “What’s occurred here is what would be considered a misdemeanor rather than a crime.”

“For a crime of assault to have occurred, the victim would have needed medical attention more than once. The footage shows there’s been no sustained attack.”

Was Bieber was justified in feeling threatened enough by Ramirez grabbing his neck and face to punch him? Or do you think the man was entitled to touch the singer as he pleased and without Bieber’s consent because he claims he is a fan? Do you think it makes a difference if he is a fan, given that numerous stars have been killed or injured by fans before?
