Last night at Survivor Series , Goldberg made his return to WWE and the ring after a 12-year absence. The world was ready for a brutal brawl between him and Brock Lesnar, but instead, they were treated to a squash that ended in less than two minutes. Now, more information is coming out about the match, including how long the finish had been planned for, why it happened, and just who in the company knew about it.
Tonight on Monday Night Raw , the shocking outcome will likely be addressed, but there is so much more to what was seen on camera. One of the things that many wonder about is just who knew about the planned outcome of the match, and it seems as if there really weren’t that many in the know.
“What the.F* #k ” seems to be the phrase of choice in the @WWE dressing room! #BrockvsGoldberg #SurvivorSeries

According to PW Insider , the majority of the WWE locker room was completely and totally shocked about the quick finish to the match. If you weren’t in the inner circle for the match (Lesnar, Goldberg, Paul Heyman, Vince McMahon, Triple H), then you didn’t know what was going to happen or how fast it would all take place.
The short 86-second match is exactly what WWE wanted to do, and the plan for it all only came about recently. According to Wrestling Observer Radio , by way of WrestleZone , the match finish was just cemented in place this past week and it took one simple thing to have it finalized.
For the past month, Goldberg has been saying that the bout at Survivor Series would be his final match ever, and this was a one-off deal with the company. About a week ago, an agreement was made for him to appear at the Royal Rumble in January and take part in the huge match, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet .
Once that deal was in place and confirmed that the former World Heavyweight Champion would be sticking around, the planned finish changed. Brock Lesnar sees big money in a feud with Goldberg, and that is something Vince McMahon agrees with, so they want to prolong it.
In turn, that means there will be another match between the two beasts, and that is why the WCW-style squash match was made. It solidified Goldberg as a true force in WWE, and it will get the fans even more behind him just as they were for his original streak so many years ago.

The reactions of the WWE superstars on social media sites were proven facts that not many people knew what would happen in the finish of the Survivor Series main event. There had to be so few people who actually thought Brock Lesnar would lose and even fewer who thought it would happen so quickly.
Now, the returning star leads their series 2-0, so it would take some time for the “Beast Incarnate” to even things up or even pull ahead. At least now, there will be a chance for it to happen.
Once it was agreed upon that this would not be the last and final match for “The Man,” the plans changed and the feud will now be stretched out for a bit longer. Obviously, the company was going to do everything possible to keep this match finish a secret and even in the age of the Internet and spoilers, they were able to do just that.
When the bell sounded and the match was officially over, those watching Survivor Series sat stunned and shocked. Some were happy while others were angry and insulted at what just transpired in front of their eyes. It now appears as if the finish is something that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg agreed upon because Vince McMahon and the WWE know there is much more to come. Keeping the outcome and plans a secret from pretty much everyone made it that much more realistic.
