Cut Scene From ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ Reveals Credence Plot Thickens
Did you know there was a cut scene at the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Producer David Heyman reveals the cut scene that points to Credence’s fate.
The magical world of Harry Potter is back and alive this week with the premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where To find Them in theaters all over the world. J.K. Rowling has again managed to arouse the whole magic-loving community to join their wands together for the tale of Newt Scamander and the fantastic beasts of the wizarding world.
The film, Variety reports, has already grossed a total of $83.3 million in its first three days alone. And estimates put Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to making more than $200 million globally in its first week, already paying its $180 million production budget. This is only the first of the five Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films that J.K. Rowling has in store for us, and surely, it’s going to be one crazy ride, yet again, for us in the magical world of Harry Potter.

Spoilers ahead
If you’ve managed to watch (and re-watch, maybe, like this writer) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them this week, you’re surely at the edge of your seats to know what’s next for the adorable Newt Scamander (played by actor Eddie Redmayne) and what’s in store for the story of Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp). It was a great surprise when Percival Graves (portrayed by Colin Farrell) was revealed to actually be Grindelwald, and we’re sure the dark and twisting story of Grindelwald is only starting from here.
It was really exciting, too, to see Ezra Miller appear on screen, portraying Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘s Credence Barebone. But our hearts were torn apart when Credence had to die after that creepy but inspired performance.

But then again, is Credence really dead? Of course not!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them producer David Heyman reveals to Gregory Wakeman of Cinema Blend during last week’s New York press junket for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them that apparently, a key scene at the ending of the movie was eliminated from the final cut. This cut scene, following Credence’ death, would have shown that there is much more to look forward to in Credence’ future.
Heyman: We actually had a scene, which we cut, which was Credence going to a boat, to get on a boat somewhere else. But we cut that, because we didn’t want to have it be such an, ‘Ahhh, here we go.’
Wakeman: So, what was that scene kind of like?
Heyman: Him getting on a boat, maybe a boat with Newt, maybe not, and heading off out of New York.
So where was the scene? Where did Credence’ last scene go? Heyman has not revealed more information on whether Credence is going to be on the good or the dark side, sticking to Newt Scamander or to Gellert Grindelwald, but he’s certainly confirmed that Credence will join Newt Scamander and his gang in the next installment of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, whether as major or supporting roles.
“I don’t think [Newt will be at] the heart of all of [the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movies]. I think he’ll be part–so will Tina, Queenie and Jacob…[Also Dumbledore] and Credence and Grindelwald. I think they will be the main players.”
That’s pretty bold for the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them heads to not go where many has gone before: teasing the audience, painfully, with what’s going to happen in the sequel. The ending of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them was pretty solid, with Grindelwald already looming on the horizon.
Gizmodo reports that the next installment of Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them will be set in the U.K. (finally!) and Paris, so Credence’ cut boat scene must have headed to that place. But no matter what, at least we know he’s alive and we get to see more of Ezra Miller’s goodness on the big screen.
