WWE News: WWE Trying To Get Conor McGregor For Huge WrestleMania 33 Segment With The Rock
WrestleMania is called the showcase of the immortals for a reason, but that isn’t exclusive to just the best athletes that WWE has to offer. The grandest stage of them all is the event where WWE gives the WWE fans the best the product has to offer on that particular day, and very often that involves bringing in some of the most recognizable and popular names of the current day to help make the show as spectacular as possible.
For example, WWE is quite fond of bringing in the top talent from the film industry for WrestleMania when they can. In the past, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Pamela Anderson, and Mr. T have all appeared on WWE TV at the apex of their popularity. WWE also has close ties with Dwayne Johnson, who is one of the top actors in the world and one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. He’s expected at WrestleMania next year.
WWE is also attempting to get more celebrities and top athletes involved with WrestleMania next year in Orlando. It’s been reported that WWE officials are trying to rub elbows with LeBron James to see if they can get him involved in WWE programming. However, WWE also has their eye on UFC’s most popular fighter, Conor McGregor and is apparently trying to work something out with UFC’s top draw in MMA right now.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans of MMA or WWE because the latter has been trying to legitimize their product by having UFC’s best mix with WWE’s best on sports entertainment’s biggest stage. While the former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey was on top of the division, WWE made huge efforts to get her a big role for WrestleMania. They’re still trying, but their main focus has shifted to Conor McGregor.
WWE officials may or may not be able to get McGregor for WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. The mixing of UFC and WWE has always been a little tricky, but Rousey did end up making a cameo appearance with The Rock at WrestleMania 31. Brock Lesnar’s fight at UFC 200 and the issues that followed may have complicated the dynamic between the two companies, but it won’t stop WWE from trying to get McGregor on the product.
Conor McGregor is the current UFC Featherweight and the UFC Lightweight Champion. He’s the first man in MMA history to accomplish that feat. It’s no wonder WWE wants him for WrestleMania, but even if they got him to make an appearance, what would he be doing on the grandest stage of them? According to a new report, they have huge plans for him if they can secure him for WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next year.

According to the report above, WWE will have McGregor do a segment with The Rock if they can get him for the event. Triple H believes that Conor McGregor would do very well in WWE and could be huge as a part of the product. The Game was asked about that recently and said the following.
“He could come over, he’s got it all, man – he’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure…what does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don’t need to be 300lbs anymore.”
Obviously, a wrestling match is extremely unlikely. However, getting physical with a top heel in a similar manner to the way Ronda Rousey did at WrestleMania 31 is a strong possibility. An entertaining segment with The Rock is a great way to give the WWE product exposure in two other industries as well if they can get him for the WrestleMania. It’s still up in the air, but WWE officials still have a few months to try.
