Katie Holmes And Tom Cruise 10 Years Later: A Little Girl’s Fairy Tale, Katie Would Not Change A Thing

It was a whirlwind fairy tale style romance that led to the nuptials between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes exactly 10 years ago. At the time, Holmes did not hold back when questioned about her love for Tom and how smitten she was to be marrying her crush. The star even stated that as a youth she always saw herself marrying the Top Gun star.

E! News remembers the words said by Katie in 2004 about her marriage proposal from Cruise that came mere months after she broke off her engagement to actor Chris Klein.

“I think every little girl dreams about [her wedding],” Katie Holmes said in an interview with Seventeen in 2004. “I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise. So let it be written, so let it be done.”

Katie went on to give birth to the couple’s only child, daughter Suri Cruise, now 10, and they were married shortly after. As the publication states, it was one of the most significant marriage proposals and weddings in Hollywood history. The marriage lasted five and a half years, then ended in divorce, leaving Katie Holmes with primary custody of little Suri.

The five-year marriage was launched with one memorable and lavish occasion, which is something worth reflecting on. It was 10 years ago in 2006 that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, notable Hollywood stars, became husband and wife. The nuptials were held inside Bracciano, which is Italy’s 15th-century Odescalchi Castle. The celebration reportedly had a price tag of upward of $3 million. The cost meant the former couple’s wedding would go down in celebrity marriage history, and the noteworthy details of the ceremony added to the superstar status of the event.

There was a guest list that included many of Hollywood’s A-list stars, and two exquisite wedding gowns were designed for the extravagant event. The couple was also serenaded by none other than Andreas Bocelli,

The publication described the style of Holmes’ two gowns for the occasion.

“Before the wedding could begin, the bride needed a gown—or two. Holmes sported two dresses during the special night, both designed by wedding attendee Giorgio Armani. For the ceremony, the Ray Donovan actress donned an off-the-shoulder silk and lace design adorned with Swarovski crystals. The crystals alone took 350 hours to place.”

The guest list is a topic worth focusing on as there was quite a number of VIPs in attendance at the wedding celebration. That list included the likes of Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, David and Victoria Beckham, Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, as well as former Scientologist Leah Remini.

Years later, following a controversial split between the pair that was said to be ignited due to Tom’s involvement and prominence in Scientology, Katie Holmes reflected on her romance and marriage to Tom Cruise. One would suspect that the beauty would not reflect positively on the marriage and eventual divorce, yet in true Katie fashion, the mother, director, and actress expressed that she truly wouldn’t have changed a thing despite the outcome. In an interview with Ocean Drive a year ago, Holmes shared her words regarding their marriage and divorce.

“I really enjoy my life. I don’t really regret anything that I’ve done. I’ve learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.”

The marriage brought her one adorable little girl who is clearly the pride and joy of her mother. Katie recently shared just how much she owes to her 10-year-old for making her the mother she has become. Katie has been the subject of many ongoing rumors regarding an alleged secret romance between Holmes and actor Jamie Foxx. However, the relationship has never been officially verified by either Homes or Foxx, and the latest rumors claim they have ended their romance.
