Gabourey Sidibe Weight Loss Pictures: ‘Empire’ Actress Shows Off 100-Pound Drop In Figure As She Aims To Make Hollywood More Body-Inclusive

Gabourey Sidibe is showing off her amazing weight loss, with pictures of the Empire actress showing off a reported 100-pound drop in her figure as she takes a deeper dive into the world of modeling and aims to make Hollywood more body-inclusive.

The actress known for her large frame is now becoming something of am ambassador for body-inclusion, as she is the face of Lane Bryant’s fall series. As People magazine noted, Gabourey Sidibe is one of a handful of famous women to help lead the campaign, which was tagged “#ThisBody Is Made To Shine.”

“There’s a lot of discussion around the lack of size-inclusive clothing right now, but one company has been consistently knocking out stylish clothes for women sizes 14-28 for years — Lane Bryant,” the magazine noted. “And since they have cute pieces at every size covered, they’re out to tackle a different concern — overcoming body shaming found on social media.”

Danielle Brooks, who is also featured in the campaign, said that she and Gabourey Sidibe are doing all they can to help Hollywood become more accepting of diverse body types.

“We want to do everything that we can to help push the needle in this world, especially I think Hollywood’s standards of beauty are messed up and they need to be shifted and change and somebody needs to go in there with a big old boulder and just knock it down,” she said (via Motto).

Sidibe also showed off her new figure on the red carpet at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards this week.

Even though there have been several pictures of Gabourey Sidibe during her weight loss journey that has now stretched across many months, the actress said she is still taken back to see her body on posters.

“I’m STILL not over this,” she tweeted. “Who knows how many subway posters I walked by hoping to one day feel as beautiful as the faces I passed.”

Sidibe is more than the face of the body-inclusive campaign — she is also a key spokesperson. In an interview with PeopleStyle, Sidibe said she is “proud to take part in something I’ve fallen victim to.”

“Plenty of times, I haven’t been able to wear certain clothes because they didn’t come in my size. It’s nice to be on the right side of the inclusion conversation,” she said.

Pictures of Gabourey Sidibe’s weight loss have been circulating for the past few months as the Empire star has shed a reported 100 pounds. She garnered plenty of attention back in September when she appeared on the Watch What Happens Live red carpet, sporting a red and yellow skirt that Page Six noted “hugged her shrinking waistline.”

Even though she is open about her struggles with fitting in, Gabourey Sidibe isn’t talking directly about her weight loss. She hasn’t divulged exactly what is behind her new figure, though she has become more open about bringing more inclusiveness to the world of fashion.

Sidibe’s activism moved into the world of politics this election season. She appeared in a campaign ad for Hillary Clinton titled “Girl, Just Vote.” Directed by Precious producer Lisa Cortes, the spot was intended as a platform to reach millennial voters and encourage them to use their voice on Election Day.

As Cortes noted, Sidibe helped shape the look of the spot.

“I was thinking about a conversation that I had with Gabby and how lively it was when we had incorporated GIFs to underscore our thoughts,” Cortes said. “I can’t think of a better mode than the moving image to impart the importance of this message for voter engagement.”
