‘Iron Man 3’ Trailer Finally Hits The Internet [Video]
The first official Iron Man 3 trailer has finally found its way online. For those who have been consuming every bit of promotional material Marvel and Disney Studios have been tossing your way, the clip embedded beneath this article is well worth the wait. Not only does the preview give fans an idea of where the storyline is headed, it also allows viewers to get to know the franchise’s latest villain, The Mandarin.
As the first Iron Man 3 trailer gets underway, it’s clear that the events from director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers have left their mark on Tony Stark. Since saving New York from the clutches of evil, our hero has had a particularly tough existence. When he does manage to get some sleep, Stark is plagued by nightmares. To make matters worse, a new villain is about to turn Iron Man’s world upside down.
Director Shane Black, who is taking over the series from filmmaker Jon Favreau, certainly has his work cut out for him. However, from the looks of the recently-released trailer, Black seems to understand what fans expect from the franchise. The clip is fairly intense and retains many of the elements which made the first two films so memorable.
Once again, the official plot synopsis:
“Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”
Iron Man 3 — which stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle, and Guy Pearce — won’t hit theaters until May 3, 2013. The first trailer for the film has been embedded below.
