Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Divorce: Marion Cotillard Weighs In On Cheating Rumors
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie parted ways in September and just hours after Jolie’s divorce filing was confirmed, Marion Cotillard found herself in the middle of their split.
For months leading up to Brad Pitt and Jolie’s breakup, the 52-year-old actor was on set with Cotillard in London, where they were filming Allied, and throughout production, the two were incorrectly linked to one another. Then, once Jolie filed for divorce, a Page Six report claimed she had done so after a private investigator discovered that her husband was allegedly cheating.
“[Angelina Jolie] hired a private eye because she felt that [Brad Pitt] was fooling around with [Marion Cotillard] on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,” the source said.
According to the Page Six report, the private investigator discovered that Pitt was not only allegedly cheating on Jolie with Cotillard, but also reportedly “partying like a single guy on a mission.”
“The atmosphere [off-set] was full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it,” the source said. “He’s in the throes of some insane midlife crisis, and Angie is fed up.”
Following the report, Cotillard spoke out on Instagram, denying having any inappropriate contact with Pitt and revealing that she was expecting a child with her longtime partner Guillaume Canet, with whom she also shares a 5-year-old son, Marcel Canet.
“I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up,” she wrote. “Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.”
Cotillard continued on, adding that she hoped Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt would find peace with one another.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married for two years prior to Jolie’s divorce filing, but they were together for a total of 12 years and share six children together, including their adopted children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, and Zahara, 11, and their biological kids, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
Earlier this week, Marion Cotillard spoke out about the rumors surrounding herself and Brad Pitt while appearing on the Today show to promote their new film.
“I never take anything personally when it doesn’t concern me. And, uh, so I didn’t take it personally because I had, you know, just nothing to do with this rumors or situations,” she explained to host Matt Lauer, according to a report by Gossip Cop on November 17.
Lauer went on to ask Cotillard if the rumors regarding her and Brad Pitt’s alleged on-set affair put a damper on her mood while filming, In response, Cotillard revealed that she was absolutely not impacted at all by the false rumors.
“No! No. I mean, I don’t give energy to this. And, uh, it was a wonderful, wonderful experience working such a visionaire director and an amazing actor. So that’s all that matters,” she explained.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have both stayed silent about the rumors of his alleged on-set affair with Cotillard as they remain entangled in a messy divorce and custody battle. As fans may have heard, Brad Pitt was targeted with a child abuse investigation after Jolie filed for divorce but was recently cleared by the Department of Child and Family Services in Los Angeles.
