Taylor Swift Reportedly Ditches Kellie Pickler For Hailee Steinfeld
Taylor Swift has been slammed in the past for ditching her childhood friends for her A-list squad. Though she’s still close to her friends Abigail Anderson and Brittany Mack, she seems to hang out with her famous friends more. A new report claims that Katy Perry may not be Taylor’s only known frenemy in the music business.
Taylor Swift may be all about women and her famous squad, which includes the likes of Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid, and Karlie Kloss, but did she ditch one of her less popular friends over the years? According to interviews captured in a new fan book titled Taylor Swift: This Is Our Story, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter couldn’t stop gushing about American Idol finalist and country singer Kellie Pickler, as reported via Radar Online.
“She’s like a sister,” Swift was quoted telling the Reading Eagle back in 2008. “People say we’re such opposites, but that’s what makes us such good friends. She’s incredibly blunt. I love that about her.”
Then, in 2007, Swift admitted that she learned how to dance from Pickler, 30, and even wrote songs for her when they toured together.
“It was so cool jumping into someone else’s feelings for a minute and writing from their perspective,” she said in an interview with CMT. “It was like I was writing my very first song. Exhilarating.”
Pickler felt the same way, calling her “closest friend” Swift “smarter than a lot of 40-year-olds” and “competitive.” Swift and Pickler have not been seen together since April 2009. It has been rumored that their friendship had fizzled out. Pickler was asked about Swift in a 2016 interview with Fox News.
“I’m not part of any squad, per se,” she said with her signature sweet smile.

Swift already has her share of bad blood with former friend Katy Perry. Bravo’s Andy Cohen didn’t hold back when he called out Swift and Perry’s obvious feud in his new book, Superficial: More Adventures from the Andy Cohen Diaries. During his appearance on The Jess Cagle Interview, he recalled an odd conversation he had with Swift at a Met Gala after party, in which he thinks the pop star was acting like a “shady a** b****,” according to People.
He was sitting at the bar waiting for a drink when he overheard the singer looking for a seat with a friend. Even though Swift wasn’t directly talking to him, Cohen decided to interrupt and find her a seat.
“I said, ‘Your friend Katy is over there,'” Cohen said. “She goes, ‘Katy who?’ I go, ‘Katy Perry.'”
Swift wasn’t amused by Cohen’s joke. Although he states she wasn’t trying to be “shady,” Cohen realizes that he was the one being “shady” at the time.” Swift made it clear that she did not want him to talk about their rumored feud on the show.
“Maybe I am a shady a** b**** that I did put it in the book,” he admitted. “I think the story is about what a douche I am in that instance.”
One of Swift’s loyal squad members, Hailee Steinfeld, opened up to Fashion magazine about what it’s like to be part of a big group of men and women. The Oscar-nominated star gushed about Swift’s squad, which also includes the likes of Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, and Ed Sheeran.
“Banding together – whether it’s a group of women or a group of men or both – is awesome,” she said.
Steinfeld counts Swift, Dunham, and Shawn Mendes as some of her closest friends.
When she was asked to recall a special moment about meeting Mendes, she added, “I remember meeting him three years ago when I was dipping my toes into the whole music thing and he inspired me to stay on. He’s so kind and even then, I knew he was going to be a big star.”
The 19-year-old actress and singer says she wants to use her fame to help promote feminism and female friendships, which she says has been the “elephant in the room” for some time, referring to her friendship with Swift. She also admitted that she had a “hard time” making friends in school. When speaking about Swift’s squad, she says that their friendship is 100 percent real.
“I can absolutely assure you that each and every one of us genuinely support and love each other. I don’t know that I could be a part of anything that wasn’t real. Especially a friend group. I’m not very good at trying to be something I’m not, or hanging with people for any reason other than getting along with them.”
