‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 8, Episode 5: New Sneak Peek Features ‘Steroline’: Stefan And Caroline At Odds Over Damon Salvatore In ‘TVD’? [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 5 is titled “Coming Home Was A Mistake.” What can fans expect with the characters in the next installment of The CW series? A new sneak peek clip was released, which teases that trouble might be brewing for “Steroline.” Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Caroline Forbes (Candice King) seem to have different opinions on what is important. Do they save Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) or mourn Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino)?

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 5 will be about Tyler Lockwood‘s funeral. It will also focus on Stefan Salvatore struggling to figure out what to do with his brother, Damon Salvatore. In a brand new sneak peek, published by Spoilers Guide, the couple known as “Steroline” are having a conversation. It seems that the two are focused on two different things.

Stefan tells Caroline that he doesn’t know what to do about Damon. Paul Wesley’s character on The Vampire Diaries says he is at a loss. Caroline Forbes seems a bit annoyed and tells him her thoughts. She says the best thing to do is to mourn Tyler with the rest of them. She definitely doesn’t seem happy that every conversation turns into saving Damon on TVD. It is important to note that Stefan doesn’t get defensive or angry. Instead, he completely gets where Caroline is coming from and holds her hand. However, could his attempt to save Damon cause “Steroline” to have some issues?

Even though they will try to have Tyler’s funeral on the next episode of The Vampire Diaries, Damon Salvatore won’t let that happen peacefully. Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) has Damon on a mission, including severing all of his ties with the people who care about him. The synopsis for “Coming Home Was A Mistake” teases that Stefan has to make a tough decision. It also reveals that Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) will be in Season 8, Episode 5.

“Spiraling down a dangerous path of self-destruction, Damon’s latest actions prove he may be beyond the point of return. Unwilling to give up on his brother, Stefan is forced to make a gut- wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever. Elsewhere, Bonnie gets advice from Caroline on how to break through to Enzo (Michael Malarkey), while Matt (Zach Roerig) attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he’s received. Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them.”

While it is possible that “Steroline” will get through this on The Vampire Diaries, there is also the chance that Caroline might start to harbor some resentment. She has spent months fully supporting Stefan in his search for Damon Salvatore. However, he has now killed one of their own, Tyler Lockwood. This just might be unforgivable, even if Damon is operating under Sybil’s orders.

As fans recall from the official promo clip for Season 8, Episode 5, Stefan might resort to doing something drastic to help save Damon on The Vampire Diaries. He talks about putting him down, but what exactly does he mean? Would Stefan really kill Damon or is he referring to doing something else? Perhaps Damon can’t be saved and the only thing left to do is to lock him away. That way, he couldn’t hurt anyone else until they figure out what to do
