Vanessa Williams joins The Librarians in a recurring role as Rockwell, and she heads a top secret, black-ops secret government agency known as D.O.S.A. (The Department of Statistical Anomalies). Her mission is to apprehend the Librarians, and to take control of the Library and the the magical artifacts contained inside. Besides a new new foe to contend with, Deadline shared that there will be other changes to this season of The Librarians.
“The show will be a bit scarier, with a little bit higher stakes to put more pressure on the characters and how they handle things,” executive producer Dean Devlin said.
For those unfamiliar with The Librarians, magic is loose in the world wreaking havoc, and it’s up to The Librarians to recover powerful and at times, very dangerous artifacts. They’re not the only ones who seek these objects, and the team often finds themselves facing off against outside threats. The Librarians group will need to call upon everything they’ve learned together as a team in order to defeat whatever plans Rockwell has for them and the Library.
Noah Wyle reprises his role as the head Librarian, Flynn Carson, but on this season of The Librarians, he will be writing, directing, and acting in seven of the 13 episodes. Dean Devlin stated that working with Wyle has been one of his most successful creative partnerships. Flynn is a fun and quirky character to watch and after being alone on his task to retrieve missing artifacts for so long, he has had to adjust to the new team dynamics. Apparently, one Librarian is no longer sufficient, and the Library decided to choose a Guardian and three new Librarians.
Eve Baird, played by Rebecca Romijn, is a former NATO agent and was chosen as the team’s Guardian. She is tasked with training and protecting The Librarians, which is no easy feat. With her help and insight, she is the one who makes sure that each mission is completed and that everyone makes it back to the Library.
Eve and Flynn also have a complicated romantic relationship that is far from being resolved. Her new charges are Ezekiel Jones (John Kim), Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth), and Jacob Stone (Christian Kane), and each one brings their own unique style and abilities to the group.

Although Ezekiel likes to describe himself as an international “man of mystery,” in reality he is an expert thief and hacker. He uses his flippant and cocky attitude to hide his true feelings and sometimes his impulsive behavior gets him into trouble, but he is slowly learning to let down his guard with the other Librarians and is learning to trust them.
Cassandra’s unique role on The Librarians is often useful for getting the team out of major predicaments. A mathematician, she uses auditory and sensory hallucinations stemming from a brain tumor to help the team by solving complex problems. The hallucinations cause her extreme pain, and fellow Librarian, Jacob, taught her how to think on pleasant memories to get past the pain she experiences.
Jacob seems to be the most grounded and spent several years as a laborer in Oklahoma. He tried to conceal his genius IQ of 190 from his family, especially his father. Eventually, everything came out in the open, and he is beginning to accept who he is and what he is capable of. His extensive interest and knowledge of art history and architecture has served the team well on more than one occasion.
One thing that each of the Librarians have in common is that they were all outcasts and loners before they became part of the team. Eve has worked over the last two seasons to mold the Librarians into a cohesive unit, but she has a little help from Jenkins, who runs the Library’s branch office. Also known as Galeas or Galahad (John Laroquette), he is their caretaker and has extensive knowledge about the Library and the artifacts and his assistance has been invaluable.

Entertainment Weekly shared some additional information on the upcoming season of The Librarians, as well as a video clip for the new season. Magic is growing more powerful, with more artifacts being created every day, and there is an escalating war between good and evil. Besides facing off against the ancient Egyptian God of Chaos, the Librarians will investigate a strange traveling carnival, and what they discover could shed crucial light on just how dangerous their collection of artifacts might be.
Felicia Day and Sean Astin will guest star in the episode titled “And Tears of a Clown,” as Kirby Goulding and Charlotte Halloway. Kirby is a magician working at the carnival and when he receives the gift of real magic, he uses his newfound abilities to find his childhood crush, Charlotte.
