Chicago P.D. fans were left disappointed two weeks ago when NBC chose to change its planned scheduling. Just hours before the latest Season 4 episode, the network announced that only reruns would air due to the MLB World Series. It wouldn’t be the only show to be canceled that night, but it did leave fans wondering what would happen with the planned schedule moving forward.
This week was the planned week for the Chicago P.D. Season 4 midseason finale. Fans were left wondering whether the show would go on for another week or whether the midseason finale would take place with a different episode, as the Inquisitr previously reported. This could have left a strange ending, considering the midseason finales are planned in advance with the original scheduling set.

Fans will be delighted to hear that the midseason finale question has been answered. Chicago P.D. fans will be treated to not one but two episodes this week. Wednesday night will see a two-hour finale, with the network airing episodes back to back.
The first episode will be the episode originally planned for last week — fans will remember that last week’s episode was pushed due to the schedule change the week before. Episode 7 will center around Antonio Dawson.
Earlier this year, fans learned that Dawson is leaving Chicago P.D. , but fans won’t have to wait too long to see him again. Dawson is moving to Chicago Justice , where he will set up his own team. Justice is the latest One Chicago show, and it will follow the legal side of proceedings. The premiere of Justice is set for January of 2017, although no official date has yet been shared.

During the episode, Chicago Fire fans will see Gabriela Dawson show up. She will be there to discuss her brother’s job offer and help him decide to move forward with his career. Dawson will also discuss his move with his boss, Inspector Voight. It turns out that Voight recommends Dawson for the position, knowing that it is the best for Dawson’s police career.
Not everyone will hear about the job offer in the first episode of the night. Sophia Bush’s Lindsay won’t find out about it until the next episode, where she will confront her colleague.

The second Chicago P.D. episode of the night will be the tense midseason finale. A highly-trained killer is at odds with the whole Chicago police department. It isn’t until two police officers die that the department realizes that it is being targeted. Everyone will need to work together to find out who the killer is and how to stop the attacks.
Many people have said that the Chicago P.D. storylines always seem like they’ve been taken from headlines. According to the Observer , this is certainly the case with the P.D. Season 4 storylines. It is important for the producers to be realistic, and right now, there is a lot of tension between the Chicago police department and the citizens. It’s important to show something like this within the show.
The best phrase for the upcoming winter finale is “brace for impact.” This is going to be a nail-biting episode and should leave everyone on the edges of their seats. There are rumors that some Chicago Med characters will make an appearance, hinting that this is going to be a bloody episode.
While fans will have to say goodbye to Dawson, it is only temporarily. The character will come back for the newest One Chicago show in January. Chicago P.D. fans will also get to see the return of Paul Winchester’s upcoming Justice character, Peter Stone, who was first seen in the P.D. Season 3 premiere. Justice star Monica Barbaro will also appear in this week’s episode.
Tune in for Chicago P.D. an hour earlier than normal on Wednesday, November 16. The two-hour midseason finale event will begin at 9 p.m. instead of the usual 10 p.m.
