Phaedra Parks Responds To Kandi Burruss’ Mom, Mama Joyce, Saying She Belongs In Prison With Apollo Nida

Phaedra Parks didn’t think much of what her co-star and former friend Kandi Burruss’ mom, known as Mama Joyce, said about her on the latest The Real Housewives of Atlanta episode that aired on Sunday night. The episode showed Mama Joyce accusing Phaedra of having been in on her ex Apollo Nida’s fraud crimes and lying about why it has taken her so long for their divorce to be finalized. In her Bravo blog post regarding the latest episode, Phaedra had some strong words for Mama Joyce.

In response to whether she was surprised by Mama Joyce’s accusations, Phaedra said that she wasn’t. Why wasn’t Phaedra surprised? Has she heard these accusations from Mama Joyce before? Phaedra only said that she expected such behavior from Mama Joyce because she’s a desperate person who will say and do anything to get attention. Ever the one with words, Phaedra added that it’s unfortunate that Mama Joyce is still trying to make herself significant instead of focusing on her soul. “Bless her heart,” Phaedra remarked.

On Season 9 Episode 2, Mama Joyce was shown talking ill of Phaedra in the presence of Kandi, Kandi’s husband Todd Tucker, and Kandi’s manager DonJuan Clark. Mama Joyce actually accused Phaedra of being a criminal herself who needs to be in prison.

“I say they don’t know the depths that Phaedra will go. I feel like she need to be sharing that cell with Apollo. She need to be a roommate.”

In a confessional interview, Mama Joyce accused Phaedra of playing dumb over the crimes Apollo committed during their marriage.

“You see him leaving every day with a briefcase but you don’t know where you can call him at his office?! Hello!”

Kandi Burruss expressed some shock and disapproval over what her mom said.

“Wait what you trying to say? Mama!”

DonJuan, who was laughing at what Mama Joyce was saying, seemingly agreed with Mama Joyce’s opinion that Phaedra is not as innocent as she proclaims herself to be.

“Well everybody knows…[laughs]”

When Mama Joyce started mentioning the “word on the street,” Kandi reminded her that she shouldn’t listen to gossip.

“I’m not even going there with ya’ll…what I told you about listening to people in the street?”

Todd stayed silent during the exchange, but said in a confessional interview that Mama Joyce might actually be right.

“Now Mama Joyce does get a good story from the street but this thing with Phaedra and Apollo, Mama Joyce might of got the right story this time. I just feel good that I’m not the target anymore.”

Does Todd know more than he let on? After all, he was good friends with Apollo Nida before Apollo began his prison sentence. On Season 8, viewers saw Todd even agree to store some of Apollo’s possessions in his and Kandi’s garage and keep them there until he came out.

Todd himself was the target of Mama Joyce’s vitriol for many seasons. Mama Joyce believed that Todd was not good for Kandi because he wasn’t as professionally successful and rich as her. Yet Mama Joyce has now mellowed out on Todd while Todd seems to still have some hard feelings towards Phaedra Parks over their past money dispute. On Season 8, Todd and Phaedra argued over money owed over a workout video that Todd produced for her and Apollo years ago. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Phaedra accused Todd of attacking her character when he himself didn’t deliver the goods.

During the scene, Mama Joyce also accused Phaedra of lying about why it was taking her so long to get a divorce from Apollo.

“If you have a man and he has more than two years in jail, Georgia will give you a divorce within two months. She acting like she can’t get divorced.”

On the Season 8 premiere episode, Phaedra explained in a confessional interview that her divorce was dragging because Apollo wouldn’t sign the divorce papers. Did Mama Joyce say that accusation as a way of implying that Phaedra’s really just sticking with Apollo for some other reason, perhaps in fear of him spilling the beans on her?

Upon Mama Joyce’s second accusation, another one of Kandi’s friends/employees looked up and read a Georgia law that seemingly supported what Mama Joyce just said. Mama Joyce did a little dance and told Kandi to not trust Phaedra.

In her own confessional interview, Kandi defended her mother’s words. Kandi said that Mama Joyce just gets protective of her.

“You know my mama is just one of those people, ‘If you are not for my child, then you are against me,’ and I pity the fool who’s against Joyce Jones.”

As the episode aired on Sunday night, Kandi defended herself from criticism. In response to one viewer who criticized Kandi and her family/friends for talking about Phaedra behind her back, Kandi said that Phaedra does the same thing.

In response to another viewer who questioned whether that makes it’s okay to talk about Phaedra behind her back, Kandi pointed out that they’re on a reality TV show where the point is for cameras to capture what they think about others.

“It’s not OK but this is a show. If nobody ever said anything there wouldn’t be a show to watch. In everyday life you will share with your family, bestie, etc… what you really think of someone. The difference is there are cameras around when we talk. You have to be open to say what you think even if cameras are there or don’t do reality tv.”

On a lighter note, Kandi Burruss agreed with a viewer who said that Mama Joyce needs her own show where she discusses all the “word on the street.”

Viewers may see Mama Joyce provide more scathing commentary on Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida later on in the season. About two weeks ago, Phaedra confirmed to TMZ that the divorce has been finalized. On Sunday, TMZ dropped the bombshell that Apollo Nida got engaged a few months ago and that his fiancee will actually appear on The Real Housewives of Atlanta later on in the season. TMZ added that while Phaedra didn’t film with Apollo’s fiancee, cameras did capture her reaction to the relationship.
