‘MDLLA’ Star David Parnes Shares The Scary Details Of His Brother’s Brain Tumor
David Parnes may not have believed in the price that his partner, James Harris, set for a home on this week’s episode of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, but the two of them decided to push the contractors and a deal was made. But on a personal level, Parnes was going through some troubling times, as he learned that his brother had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Since David was working in Los Angeles and his brother was in London, England, it was hard for him to focus on real-estate. He did leave the show briefly to attend to his brother, but he hasn’t opened up about his brother’s illness – until now.
According to a new Bravo report, David Parnes is now revealing that he decided to open up about his personal story because it was something that was going on in his life. Even though he could have easily kept the story away from the show, it was something that he wanted to share with Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles fans.

“It was affecting everything. Like, a lot of stuff that they watched wouldn’t really make sense because of where I was mentally,” David Parnes explains in an interview with The Daily Dish, sharing that he also wanted to share the story so people who are going through the same thing will have someone to relate to.

“But what I would say is also what my brother’s going through is what a lot of families go through and a lot of people go through. I think it’s important to put it out there [so] people don’t feel alone. People have actually, they’ve been amazing. They’ve been reaching out by email, by social media, comparing stories and offering their support, their cures and their treatments. And it’s actually quite an amazing thing,” David Parnes points out in his interview, according to Bravo.

But Parnes actually noticed that something was wrong with his brother before he started filming this current season of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. When David was home for Christmas, he noticed that something was off with his brother and his family guessed that he may be dealing with a depression. They went to get him help, but therapists didn’t diagnose him with a depression. Instead, they decided to investigate further and found something unexpected.

“He was depressed and something wasn’t right, so I didn’t know what was going on. So, obviously, we took him to a therapist, and a therapist thought, ‘Oh, maybe you’re depressed,’ which he never had been. And there’s nothing wrong with depression. It’s just not typical of my brother. And then he took himself for a head scan when I went back to L.A.,” David Parnes explains about how brother was diagnosed, adding, “They called my parents back urgently that night and said, ‘It’s very serious. He has a brain tumor.’ What they originally diagnosed him with was actually worse than what it is through the scan.”

David Parnes has revealed that his brother is doing much better these days, but he hasn’t really given a clear update about how things at the moment. Maybe fans will get an update on Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles later this season or maybe he isn’t updating viewers on the situation in order to protect his brother. But it is admirable that David opened up about his feelings on the show, especially since the situation is so emotional.
What do you think of David Parnes’ decision to open up about his brother’s health situation on the show? Are you happy to hear that his brother is doing well these days?
