Donald Trump Now Has A Twitter, New Website For His Transition To President: President-Elect Outlines His And VP Mike Pence’s Plans To ‘Make America Great Again’
Almost nobody saw this coming. If you had asked the media, the average person, or even Donald Trump himself, you might have thought Hillary Clinton had the 2016 presidential election clinched. But that was not the case Tuesday night, when Trump managed to collect 279 electoral votes and win the presidency.
Trump also met with President Obama on Thursday to discuss the transfer of power from Obama to the President-Elect. Now, The Donald has created a new Twitter account and website to discuss the details of his plans for America.
- Immigration – He may have calmed down a bit since becoming President-Elect, but Trump is still all about the wall. In addition to building a wall on the U.S./Mexico border, he plans to cut funding to cities that harbor illegal immigrants, called sanctuary cities.
- Energy – The Donald is determined to make America energy independent. His campaign promises to cut red tape put in place by Clinton and Obama and alter laws that make coal supplies scarce. This will create jobs in coal mines as well as making the U.S. self-sufficient.
- Economy – The Orange One makes it clear he’s not a fan of the Dodd-Frank Act. CNBC explains that this act put a variety of regulations on banks and allowed for breaking them up if they are labeled “too big to fail.” The Donald wants his team to repeal Dodd-Frank and replace it with new policies that support free markets.
- Healthcare – As The Donald has said in his campaigning, he wishes to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). This act was established during Barack Obama’s presidency with the goal of giving all Americans health insurance. However, Trump has argued it has only led to higher premiums and killed competition among insurance companies. His solution? Allow each state to decide how to implement Medicaid.
Greatagain.gov also has a fun side, allowing you to learn about Trump and Pence’s earlier lives. The site stated that Mike Pence once presided over a workforce of 28,000 while governor of Indiana. Pence is also a huge supporter of veterans and has visited U.S. soldiers overseas many times.
As CBSNews reported, Trump’s new Twitter account can be found at @Transition2017. The account already has a verified checkmark, and one of the more popular messages is a tweet asking readers how they want to “Make America Great Again.”
Users who click the link in Trump’s tweet will be sent to a government site where you can fill out a contact form and let The Donald know your ideas for America. Not everyone is excited about the transition account, though; one Twitter user asked The Donald how he planned to handle the deportation process.
.@transition2017 How do you plan to redistribute the children of the immigrants you deport? #NotMyPresident

Some users did send productive and even funny tweets at the Trump’s transition Twitter, however. For instance, one tweeter stated they just wanted people to stop blocking traffic. Others wanted the U.S.’s $19 trillion debt fixed or pardons for soldiers that had violated the Rules of Engagement abroad.
No other President Elect turned around look back at the people of America who elected him & ask them what they want Awesome

Trump’s new Twitter account already has over 36,000 followers. Interestingly enough, the White House also has a plan for a “digital transition” — preserving all of Obama’s social posts while handing the @POTUS twitter over to Trump. Adweek.com explains.
“The White House Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, along with other official agency accounts, all will be archived. All of those posts will still be around to see, just in a slightly different way. They will be scooted over to other accounts, but the records will also be kept with NARA [National Archives And Records Administration].”
Additionally, the White House staff will be creating social media accounts ending in four (example: @POTUS44) to differentiate between Trump and Obama’s accounts.
