‘Vampire Diaries’: Nathalie Kelley On Siren’s Job, Sybil’s Sister — Vulnerable, Driven By Tragedy, Expect More Evil In ‘TVD’ [Spoilers]

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 features a new big bad. She is a siren named Sybil, portrayed by Nathalie Kelley. The villain uses mind control to make her servants, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey), kill for her. There is still so much that fans don’t understand about the character. Recently, the actress spoke about the siren, Sybil’s sister, and more.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 4 synopsis and extended promo reveal Sybil still controls Damon Salvatore. As fans recall from last week, Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis), Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), and Caroline Forbes (Candice King) saved Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) from getting killed. It was a close call and now Sybil is locked in an observation room at the Armory. However, her powers include mind control and she can do it from a distance. This means that Damon is still doing her dirty work.

“Tasked with finding a mysterious artifact, Damon’s latest mission takes him to Texas where a violent run-in with Peter Maxwell (guest star Joel Gretsch) leads to a surprising revelation. Meanwhile, after gaining the upper hand in their fight to save Damon and Enzo, Stefan and Alaric team up and uncover the origins of the mysterious force they’re up against. Finally, Matt (Zach Roerig) returns to the fray after his past and present collide in an unexpected way.”

What else can be expected on the episode titled, “An Eternity Of Misery?” Actress Nathalie Kelley spoke to Alloy Entertainment about Sybil on The Vampire Diaries. Fans will go back in time and find out about Sybil’s backstory. Kelley described her character as vulnerable and needy. Viewers will also find out that her actions are driven by a tragic event that happened thousands of years ago. However, also be prepared for the villain to get even more evil. What has been shown so far is just the beginning of the terror and horror.

Regarding Sybil’s sister in The Vampire Diaries, Nathalie could only say that the siblings are very different. In the backstory, fans will see the sisters living together on an island. What is interesting is that Damon and Stefan are brothers who are also completely different. Stefan Salvatore intrigues Sybil and it was hinted that the relationships are mirrored.

It was assumed that Sybil was having Damon and Enzo kill human beings because she needed to eat or for her amusement. However, it turns out that torturing and killing souls is actually Sybil’s job. It was a task assigned to her. Since she talks about Hell so much, did a higher evil give the siren this job? Perhaps a demon or even the devil himself?

Just because killing certain people is Sybil’s job in TVD doesn’t mean she isn’t evil. Nathalie Kelley teased that the siren gets so much worse in The Vampire Diaries Season 8.

“Oh, it gets even darker – she does some really messed-up things. This is just the beginning. [Laughs] I’m actually shocked by some of the things, like, ‘Wow, she’s not holding back!’ She’s a true villain.”
