The Two Sides To Russell Crowe’s Battle With Azealia Banks: Spitting, Threats, Ridicule
Russell Crowe won thunderous applause when he played the role of a fierce Roman gladiator in Gladiator, the 2000 movie which won five Academy Awards. Russell Crowe won the Academy Award in the Best Actor category for bringing to life the pained and tortured General Maximus, who used his martial skills in bloody gladiatorial combats after being sold to a gladiator-slave dealer.

Crowe’s character in Gladiator was well-admired for his fighting spirit and leadership skills, however, it appears that the Cinderella Man actor is flaunting a fighting spirit in real life as well. Azealia Banks, the rapper, has accused the actor of manhandling her at a party organized in Crowe’s Beverly Hills hotel suite.

A scuffle between Russell Crowe and Azealia broke out when the hip-hop artist ridiculed Crowe’s music choice and irked other guests, calling them boring white men. The argument became more severe when Azealia verbally retaliated against a woman who was trying to calm her down. When the matter started to get out of control, Russell Crowe intervened and reportedly bear-hugged Azealia, escorting her out of his hotel suite. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Azealia threatened guests in a violent and abusive tone.
“You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino sh*t.”
However, International Business Times reports that Azealia’s Facebook post revealed an entirely different version of the controversial story.
“To recap my night, I went to a party at Russell Crowe’s suite, at which he called me a n****r, choked me, threw me out and spat at me. Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time.”

In fact, Azealia revealed that she was particularly disturbed by the fact that other men in the party offered no help when the Beautiful Mind actor physically evicted her from his party. Via another Facebook post she revealed that she was so angry with Russell Crowe that she expected someone to beat him up for his bad behavior.
Although she’s since deleted the Facebook posts, the rapper clearly wants an apology from Russell Crowe, and she’s reportedly filed a complaint with the Beverly Hills Police Department. Azealia has won support from her fans who have cheered her on for putting on a brave face against Crowe’s rough behavior.
This is not the first time Russell Crowe has been accused of bad behavior. Earlier, the actor reportedly threatened Malcolm Gerrie, a television executive, after his BAFTA acceptance speech was cut short during the telecast of the Awards ceremony. Later, Crowe reportedly threatened a fan who had taken his photograph without seeking the actor’s permission. However, Russell Crowe apologized to Malcolm, and they resolved their differences, so much so that they enjoyed a drink together.
Russell Crowe as admitted to being upset by media intrusion into his personal life, and it appears the actor has no reservations in speaking his mind. He recently left his Hollywood peers dumbfounded when he turned foul-mouthed while parodying Donald Trump’s lewd remarks about women. Russell Crowe’s on-stage parody took place when the actor was officially hosting the 30th American Cinematheque Awards at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Fox News reports that the actor jokingly reminded the audience to vote in the U.S. presidential elections in a rather hilarious way.
“It’s a huge year, so don’t forget to vote… for the Academy Awards when that comes around.”
Russell Crowe has yet to comment on the breaking news that Donald Trump has been elected the next President of the United States. Crowe’s most recent tweet was of a lightning storm.
