Black Pink Vs 2NE1: Is The Rookie Group Just A Copycat? [Videos]
Black Pink and 2NE1 have a lot of similarities. They’re both K-pop girl groups and they’re both under the same label, YG Entertainment. In fact, Black Pink is the first girl group to be formed by YG since 2NE1 debuted in 2009.
But the similarities don’t end there. Many have claimed that Black Pink’s songs and performance style mimics 2NE1 so much that they seem like a copycat of the older group.
not being judgmental but 100% sure there are some 2NE1’s scrapped/demo tracks in Blackpink’s discography~

According to Soompi, Black Pink recently addressed claims that they’re just a copy and paste version of 2NE1. In the interview they say that they’re not bothered by the comparisons and that they welcome the influence of the older K-pop girl group.
“We’re in the same company as 2NE1 and we get our songs from the same producers, so the influence is natural. Since they’ve done a lot of things before us, we want to emulate them. But at the same time, we hope there will soon be an opportunity to show our own unique color. We want to succeed with our own unique color,” said Lisa of Black Pink.
“Because we’re a rookie group, we’re currently focusing on our team. We’re hoping there will be opportunities to study songwriting and lyric writing in the future. If we had to pick our group’s specialty, it would be performance, ” she continued. “We’ve learned a lot of dance genres that a lot of girl groups tend not to learn, and we think those things will be a point of differentiation when we perform on stage.”
It seems that YG Entertainment has invested a lot of time and money into making sure that Black Pink’s dancing skills surpassed every other girl group in K-pop right now. According to this article in Chatt Sports Net, international choreographers were brought in to train the girls in a wide variety of genres, including ballet, popping, krumping, etc.
“Our agency has been monitoring our debut performances, and we want to focus on our dance and onstage performances and keep developing that,” Black Pink member Jennie said at a press conference on November 2.
