Joshua Woodward: Celebrity Restaurant Owner Charged With Attempted Murder For Allegedly Slipping His Girlfriend Abortion Pills

Joshua Woodward, once a highly successful restaurateur, was charged with four counts of attempted murder after allegedly slipping his then girlfriend abortion pills on multiple occasions. The unnamed woman claims she found a suspicious white substance in her underwear after engaging in foreplay and ultimately sex with the popular restaurant owner.

The white substance was later identified as Misoprostol, a medication known to cause early term abortions and to induce labor. Woodward once owned the exclusive Table 8 restaurant in Manhattan, which was frequented by both celebrities and high-powered businessmen. The accused attempted murderer also owned the equally successful 8oz Burger Bar eateries in Los Angeles and Miami, according to the Daily Mail.

The unnamed girlfriend contacted the LAPD after finding the white powder in her underwear and told the officers the intimate details of her relationship with Joshua. According to information shared with the law enforcement officers, the wealthy restaurant owner was not happy about becoming a father and encouraged his then lover to get an abortion. Determined to keep the baby, the girlfriend opted to call it quits with Woodward, the New York Daily News notes.

After allegedly telling the woman he had changed his mind about becoming a daddy, the pair rekindled their romance. Joshua Woodward reportedly slipped his hand inside of a pocket or backpack on multiple occasions before engaging in foreplay with his then girlfriend. The young woman experienced severe cramping and ultimately miscarried.

LAPD officers reportedly instructed the girlfriend to invite the Table 8 owner over to her house but not to let him know she had lost the baby. After arriving at her home, Joshua allegedly pulled a white powdery substance out of his pocket and began grinding the powder on his pants. Prosecutors spent several years conducting tests on the substance and gathering enough evidence to bring charges.
