Brad Pitt ‘Can’t Believe This Is What His Life Has Become’ As He Files For Joint Custody In Split With Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt had a harsh reality check following his shocking divorce from Angelina Jolie.

After twelve years by Jolie’s side, Us Magazine reported that Pitt is “totally crushed” by the split and “can’t believe” how his life has turned out.

“He can’t believe this is what his life has become, and he’s in bad shape, but the kids are the only thing he’s hanging onto,” an insider told the outlet. “He’s been leaning heavily on his family and speaks to his parents and close friends and his manager constantly. His mom has been talking to him constantly.”

Jolie kept Pitt from seeing his kids shortly after the divorce, but he has since seen all of the kids — Maddox (15), Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and Vivienne and Knox (8) — except Maddox, who reportedly refuses to see him.

Right now their custody agreement outlines when Pitt is allowed to see his children and grants Jolie custody of the kids until further notice. And, Pitt will be accompanied by a therapist while seeing the kids. The World War Z star also agreed to individual counseling and random alcohol and drug tests.

“He will cooperate in whatever way he can,” the insider explained. “He loves those kids more than anything.”

But now, Brad Pitt is fighting back. After weeks of not answering Jolie’s divorce filing, Pitt filed for joint custody of the kids just last week. Since their split, Brad and Angelina have had no contact.

A source close to the family told People that “They are still working on issues that they can’t agree on. It seems their issues still involve the kids. Brad and Angie haven’t had any contact, and it’s all being worked out via their teams. It’s just a sad situation.”

Hossein Berenji, a divorce attorney, explained Jolie may have filed for sole custody to ensure the children’s safety and also give Pitt an opportunity to take responsibility for his actions.

As fans will recall, Pitt was involved in an incident while exiting a private jet with his family. Children’s and Family Services are investigating the actor for claims of child abuse.

“It might actually just be a way to deal with this and put down all these rumors in a very short, fast, quick period of time that will not involve a whole huge scandal where the kids and their lives and their past and everything is dragged through public media,” Berenji explained. “So there is a benefit I can see to both sides, and I can see why both sides might be willing to go through this process and get this done.”

Although Pitt is willing to do anything for the sake of his kids, Hollywood Life is reporting that the restrictions are ruining his life.

“He can’t stand the fact that he has to have supervised visits with his children,” a source revealed. “He’s playing along but he is so insulted and he can’t believe how drastically his life changed in a matter of weeks.”

Part of the reason why Pitt is so shaken is because the divorce caught him off guard. Pitt did not have legal representation when Jolie filed the divorce papers and didn’t think she would actually go through with it.

As far as Jolie is concerned, the actress’ lawyer released a statement on her behalf when she filed for divorce: “This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
