The Stephen King horror classic Carrie was so good, some doubted it even needed a remake. The original is widely viewed as one of the most terrifying movies in history and it still has the ability to freak people out today as it did in the 70’s. Well, it seems that Chloe Moretz is looking to prove the cynics wrong staring in the newest remake of the classic horror film.
The remake stars Moretz as Carrie and Juliane Moore is also attached to the film. A teaser trailer has finally been released (see below) and even the short clip of the movie is enough to give you a bit of a fright. The movie is scheduled to be released in 2013 and has a lot of people really excited.
Speaking to Fox News entertainment reporters in their Coming Soon section, Moretz says the new version she is starring in and being directed by Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”), will be “darker and much more psychological” and will be more of an adaptation of the book than a remake. Adding that she’s “actually not looking at the original,” she said that the role will be a big change for her: “I’m becoming a totally different person for it. I’m letting go of all of my self-esteem issues and just kind of going into it.”
The original film, which was released in 1976 and starred Sissy Spacek as the bullied girl who had the power to effect the world aaround her with her mind was and remains a smash hit.
It’s already been remade once as a TV movie in 2002, and it even produced a sequel in 1999 (“The Rage: Carrie 2”).
