Sarah Silverman’s Dad Slams Rabbi Over Letter To Comedienne
Sarah Silverman’s dad has slammed a rabbi who wrote the 41-year-old comedienne a letter questioning her choice of lifestyle.
Albert Silverman leaped to his daughter’s defense after Rabbi Yaakov Rosenblatt posted an open letter to the performer on The Jewish Press. The rabbi’s letter was penned after Rosenblatt saw Sarah Silverman’s PSA video on voter ID laws, in which the comedienne warns of state laws that could roadblock voters.
Rosenblatt’s missive included observations such as:
“You said you wouldn’t get married until gay people can. Now they can. And you still haven’t married. I think, Sarah, that marriage and childrearing are not in the cards for you because you can’t focus on building life when you spend your days and nights tearing it down.”
The inflammatory letter led to ugly scenes in the comments, where Sarah Silverman’s dad slams Rabbi Rosenblatt for his remarks, advising the holy man to “shove god up your judgmental ass”:
“Hey Rabbi Idiot: Is your wife allowed to go to a minion or sit at the front if a bus or choose between abortion or birth. Take your false god and shove god up your judgmental ass. Check your wonderful bible and learn about your cruel god from a book you believe in literally.”
When one user spoke out in support of Rabbi Rosenblatt, Sarah Silverman’s dad fired back with a warning:
“Hey a**hole: Daughter #1 is a rabbi. Not by your standards. She’s reform. How dare she, a lowly woman think god wants her to be a rabbi, created from a mere rib. Her hubby, three times nominated for a nobel peace prize was listed by the Jerusalem Post as the 49th most influential jew in the world built the worlds largest solar field in israel. By the way, Sarah was also on the list. I missed your name. Oldest granddaughter is serving in the Israel Defense Forces. I’m sure you also served. Oh I forgot the orthodox don’t do that. You don’t f**k with my family.”
And Sarah Silverman herself appreciated her dad’s willingness to step in. On Tuesday, the comedienne tweeted:
Oh, Dad! You’re my hero.Where do you get such moxie?? say.ly/wzl4o2N
