American Horror Story: Ryan Murphy Reveals Dylan McDermott Will Return
Actor Dylan McDermott will return in a cameo on American Horror Story: Asylum.
We’re so close to the Season 2 premiere of American Horror Story but the exclusives keep rolling in. Creator Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter today that McDermott, the star of Season 1, will return in some capacity in Season 2.
This season is set to take place in a creepy mental ward and is appropriately subtitled Asylum. Jessica Lange will lead the cast this year as Sister Jude, a nun you do not to mess with. Lange won the Emmy for her role in the show last season and joins fellow returning cast members Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson who are all portraying brand new roles totally different from their characters in the first season.
It’s unclear as of now what McDermott will do at Briarcliff Manor now that Ryan Murphy’s announced he’s returning for Season 2. Last season he starred as philandering psychiatrist Ben Harmon alongside his wife and daughter played by Connie Britton and Taissa Farmiga, respectively. Each season of American Horror Story is its own installment and it was revealed in Season 1 that (SPOILER ALERT) the “Murder House” the Harmon’s moved into was inhabited by the ghosts of the people who had died there. The Harmon’s themselves ended up falling victim to the house in the finale, but in their deaths found a sort of peacefulness in their family unit.
In addition to the returning cast members who are filling out some of the main roles, McDermott will join fellow Season 1 American Horror Story cast members Frances Conroy and Eric Stonestreet in so far unrevealed cameos.
So thrilled to announce Dylan McDermott is returning to American Horror Story!
