Jared Leto Says ‘F*** You Taylor Swift’ Video Was Stolen And Sold To TMZ

Jared Leto made waves in 2016 when he played the role of the Joker in Suicide Squad. Leto added his take to the DC Comics supervillain who is renowned for creating mayhem in Gotham City. Jared Leto’s Joker was different from earlier film versions because Suicide Squad showed the Joker using his skills to help the Government fight various evils threatening the world.

However, in real life, Jared Leto is seeking help from U.S. legal authorities to get justice for himself because the Mr. Nobody actor believes that TMZ, an entertainment news website, published a video clip that was stolen from him. The video clip shows the actor making sneering remarks about Taylor Swift and her 1989 album after listening to the opening track “Welcome to New York.” According to RTT, Leto’s disparaging comments revealed his hatred towards Taylor Swift.

“I don’t like this at all – next. I mean, f*** her, I don’t give a f*** about her. It’s whatever works best for us.”

Earlier, Leto filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Naeem Munaf, the videographer who shot the video in the actor’s home. However, a U.S. District Court passed judgment in Naeem’s favor, pointing out that Naeem wasn’t working for Jared Leto during the video shooting, and therefore, the videographer had the right to sell the footage to TMZ. Despite the setback, Leto has vowed to continue his fight against TMZ because he believes they exploited legal loopholes in order to publish sensational and scandalous material in the name of news.

NME further reports that Jared Leto insists that he had, in fact, hired the videographer who shot the video in his home studio.

“It was wrong of TMZ to purchase stolen goods. It was wrong of TMZ to exploit material that did not belong to them. He [Naeem Munaf] was an employee who was hired to work for us.”

Even though it’s too late to repair the damage, the Dallas Buyers Club actor is serious about pursuing his legal case against TMZ. Earlier in 2008, Leto locked horns with Virgin Records when the music company filed a $30 million lawsuit against 30 Seconds to Mars, the Jared Leto-led rock band, for failing to deliver three out of five albums the band had promised to produce, as per their contractual obligations. While fighting Virgin Records, Jared Leto explicitly refused to abide by the contract he’d signed with Immortal Records, the now-defunct record label from whom Virgin Records had taken over Leto’s contract. Leto rubbished the claims made by Virgin, and the case was settled in 2009.

Interestingly, a fan recently threatened to sue Warner Bros and DC Comics for cheating the audiences of Suicide Squad because Jared Leto’s Joker had a very short screen time. The fan claimed the movie trailer depicted the Joker as a central character in the film, who should, therefore, have maximum screen time. In reality, the film proved to be disappointing for fans who had specifically gone to the theater to watch Jared Leto in action.

In other news, the A.V. Club reports that Jared Leto’s Joker appeared in the music video for “Purple Lamborghini,” Skrillex and Rick Ross’s song that featured on the soundtrack for Suicide Squad.

Jared Leto created the hype surrounding Suicide Squad much earlier than the movie’s release when he wore the Joker’s persona and make-up while taking photographs that were later shared on social media. Additionally, the actor played the Joker on the film set by sending his co-stars weird and bizarre presents that only the Joker could think of. It was probably expected that fans would become upset when they discovered that Jared Leto had only 15 minutes of screen time in Suicide Squad.
