Lily-Rose Melody Depp may only be 17-years-old, but she’s already coming into her own as both a model and an actress. Asked to discuss how success has come to her at such an early age, Lily-Rose credits her parents, Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp, for their nurturing yet easy-going philosophy on child-rearing. Ms. Depp says she’s thankful to her parents for allowing her the freedom to make her own choices and suggests that leniency has helped her to learn what she wants out of life for herself.

Lily-Rose Meloday Depp makes a new debut in the most recent edition of Vogue U.K. and, aside from stunning readers with her print ready image and proving why she’s risen to modeling stardom so quickly, Ms. Depp opens up about her childhood and her better than normal upbringing. Lily-Rose confesses that upbringing only seems better than the average, because she has never had cause to rebel against her parents, not even in the slightest, yet expected, ways that all teenagers seek to distance themselves from their families.

“My parents weren’t very strict,” Ms. Depp said of Johnny and Vanessa. “They’ve always trusted me to be independent and make my own decisions. There wasn’t really anything to rebel against.”

Another thing Lily-Rose may have learned from Johnny Depp is to keep playing things close to the vest. While Johnny’s daughter does maintain various social media accounts, she warns that fans won’t see too much revealed about her personal life. Instead, Lily-Rose says she keeps the accounts active only to promote her modeling campaigns and film roles.

“I never like revealing too much about myself,” Lily-Rose Melody Depp says about social media sites. “Once you start giving people that look into your life, then they just want more and more.”

Lily-Rose may be right in suggesting that her parents’ hands-off method of parenting has been a great benefit to her. Just as Independent reports, Ms. Depp has been busy pursuing a very successful career as a fashion model, having recently been selected to represent Chanel in a new campaign. One look at Lily-Rose’s Instagram account reveals just how often Lily-Rose and Chanel have joined forces.

Most recently, Depp shared images of herself modeling a new shade of red lipstick for Chanel. The images show the color accentuating Depp’s full lips with captions that express thanks to make-up artist Christophe Danchaud, who frequently freelances with Chanel. In another set of postings, Lily-Rose Melody Depp models in the name of the newly launched Chanel No. 5 fragrance.

In addition to launching a modeling campaign that includes having been chosen as one of Chanel’s fresh new faces, Ms. Depp is also becoming a new face in the Hollywood limelight. Following her roles in Kevin Smith’s Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016), Lily-Rose Melody Depp has starred in the French film, The Dancer, and alongside Natalie Portman in the upcoming Planetarium.

Planetarium is part mystery, part fantasy. The film, directed by Rebecca Zlotowski (Grand Central, You and the Night), follows Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Melody Depp as two sisters who are able to communicate with spirits. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they cross paths with a French producer while working in Paris.

Planetarium does not yet have a U.S. release date. The film will have a November 16 theatrical release in France.
