Gigi Hadid Dishes On Halloween Antics With Taylor Swift And Reveals Being Body Shamed By Tommy Hilfiger

Gigi Hadid is coming clean about her Halloween night escapades, revealing that she spent much of the night with Taylor Swift and more friends. In talking about the night of fun, Hadid reveals why she ditched her costume at the last minute, suggesting that a chance visit to a local vintage clothing store was to blame. Gigi also shares the news that while her modeling star may be on the rise now, this wasn’t always the case. Gigi was once body shamed by high profile fashion designer, Tommy Hilfiger.

Gigi Hadid Joins Taylor Swift’s Squad For Some Spooky Shenanigans

Gigi Hadid made an appearance on Today earlier this week to talk about her modeling career, which has suddenly taken off with many dubbing Gigi the modeling “it girl,” due to her big draw among fashion designers, reports People. While on the show, Hadid couldn’t help but to be diverted by the topic of Halloween, revealing that she always loves celebrating the Halloween season with friends.

For this year’s Halloween, Gigi reveals that she had gone all out in designing a great Halloween costume, but, at the last minute, chose to ditch it in favor of a simpler look. For those curious to know what that first costume might have entailed, Hadid wouldn’t say. She did suggest that we might yet see the planned outfit when Gigi commented that she was saving it for another event.

So what was this second outfit that Hadid felt compelled to wear? It all started with a visit to a local vintage clothing boutique.

“I found a Cub Scouts shirt in Japan at a vintage store,” Ms. Hadid revealed.

Gigi put the costume together just in time to attend friend Taylor Swift’s small Halloween bash, which was also attended by Martha Hunt, Camila Cabello, Lily Donaldson, and Kennedy Rayé. The party was part Halloween bash and birthday celebration for Rayé.

The Halloween girls night was set up with plenty of food, including pizza and chips with guacamole dip. Gigi says the Halloween party was a “really cool” way to spend the night.

Gigi Hadid Was Once Body Shamed By Tommy Hilfiger

One of Gigi’s first modeling jobs came at the Fall 2015 New York Fashion Week when Hadid was chosen to model for Tommy Hilfiger, but, at the last moment, the fashion designer considered pulling the aspiring model from the line-up, feeling that she was too thin to fit into his clothes. Instead, Hadid was dressed in an over-sized poncho.

“Our casting director said, ‘She doesn’t really fit because you know she’s not quite as tall as the other girls, she’s not quite as thin,'” Hilfiger revealed to Yahoo Style‘s Joe Zee.

The poncho they chose for Gigi to wear instead was a red, white, and blue football poncho and Hadid’s modeling style brought much more attention to it than it might otherwise have received.

“It covered a lot of her body unfortunately, but it received millions of hits,” admitted Hilfiger.

The response was so overwhelming that Tommy was inspired to bring Gigi in on a line of her own, asking the model to consider a joint line of clothing. Only a short time later, Hadid was modeling for Hilfiger and showing off her petite figure in the fashion designer’s 2016 Spring show. The joint line of attire, which Hilfiger describes as an “All-American girl next door with an exotic twist to her look,” made its initial debut at NYFW in September, reveals Entertainment Weekly.

Gigi says she does feel that the “it girl” label is something that makes her feel honored, adding that her only goal in that regard is to be someone with whom people like to work. Hadid feels that being personable and friendly helps to build connections in her professional life, just as is the case in her private life.

“Something I’ve just paid attention to is just being someone people like to work with. If you really touch someone on a personal level, they’ll be the ones that are fighting for you the next day at a meeting or pushing for you on a campaign,” said Gigi Hadid.

“And that’s just something I like to stick too.”
