Has ‘Teen Mom 2’ Been Canceled? Kailyn Lowry, Jenelle Evans, Leah Messer And Chelsea Houska May Be Done With MTV

Teen Mom 2 fans may be headed for disappointment. Ahead of the upcoming debut of Teen Mom 2 Season 7B, Kailyn Lowry has hinted that the show will soon come to an end.

Although there has been no official confirmation of the series’ end from MTV, Lowry, who has starred on the series since it began in 2011, speaks of the show coming to an end in her new book, Hustle & Heart, which hits stores on November 22.

In the book, as revealed by iTech Post on November 1, Lowry opens up about her identity struggles and tells readers that with “[Teen Mom 2] coming to end,” it’s time for her accomplishments to stand out. In addition to sharing details of her journey from “white trash” to college, Lowry tells readers that she hopes her children will one day blow people away with their “manners, wit, and intelligence.”

According to the report, Teen Mom 2 Season 8 is already in the works, but with Lowry’s recent revelation, it could be the last season of the series. The outlet also revealed that the end of Teen Mom 2 could lead to the end of Teen Mom OG, which features the original teen moms, Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, and Farrah Abraham.

As fans may recall, Teen Mom came to an end after four seasons in 2012, but years later, the series was brought back and renamed following Amber Portwood’s release from prison. Now, the series is currently airing its sixth season and a seventh season remains unconfirmed.

For the past couple of years, there have been frequent reports regarding the end of Teen Mom 2 and at times, stars of the series, including Leah Messer and Jenelle Evans, have threatened to quit the show due to its allegedly unfair edits.

Most recently, Adam Lind appeared on the Teen Mom 2 Season 7 reunion special, where he seemingly announced he would not be returning for the series’ upcoming season. Around the same time, Messer’s ex-husband, Jeremy Calvert, revealed that he too was fed up with his role on the show and not planning to continue to film.

Although two major characters appeared to announce their show exits just months ago, a report following the news confirmed that they had both returned to Teen Mom 2 shortly after they claimed they would not. In August, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup told readers that both men were required to continue filming with MTV due to their signed contracts with the network. While cast members are believed to sign new contracts each season, MTV chose to make the upcoming season a continuation of Season 7, rather than a new season, which would have been Season 8.

“Both guys signed on for Season 7, and wanted out while filming last season,” a source told The Ashley. “Neither planned to do any more episodes after that, but MTV kind of pulled a fast one on them and simply extended the season. Instead of the new season being Season 8, it is now Season 7B, which means there were no new contracts signed… It’s unavoidable. They can’t get out of it because they already signed, knowing that it was a possibility that the season would be extended. It happened once before to the cast.”

“Jeremy is so done,” another source told the outlet. “There’s no way he’ll sign on for [Teen Mom 2] Season 8. MTV keeps trying to throw money at him, but he isn’t taking it. He just wants away from all the craziness that being on the show brings. Unfortunately, he has to honor the full Season 7 contract that he signed before he can be done.”
