‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 Spoilers: Justin Chambers Hints Alex Karev Is Leaving The Show [Sneak Peek]
Alex Karev’s days at Grey Sloan Memorial may be numbered.
Alex (Justin Chambers) has certainly gone through a lot of drama this season and a recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy hinted that legal troubles might be his undoing.
To make matters worse, iTech Post reports that Chambers has been hinting that Alex’s days as a doctor are over.
Is Alex getting the boot from Grey Sloan Memorial this season?
According to She Knows, the most recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy ended with a big question mark about Alex’s future.
Alex finally went to court for his vicious beating of DeLuca at the end of Season 12. Although things appeared fine, Alex’s conversation with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) at the end of the episode didn’t sound good.
Meredith started the conversation by asking Alex about his court date.
“It was fine,” he told her, before adding, “I want to do waffles. On Sundays – all of us, like a family. For as long as we can.”
The “as long as we can” line sounds an awful lot like Alex isn’t going to be around much longer.
Because Alex fell short of explaining to Meredith what went wrong, fans were left to speculate what he meant and what went wrong at court.
The episode also featured a lot of Alex, which means that Shonda Rhimes could be setting him up for a huge departure.
According to TV Rucus, even some of Alex’s co-workers are surprised that he is still working.
In the episode, “Roar,” Catherine Avery voiced her concern about Alex to Dr. Bailey and was surprised that he was still working at the clinic.
Dr. Bailey didn’t exactly respond well to Catherine’s opinion, though it did make her second guess keeping Alex on board.

Later in the episode, Dr. Bailey criticized Alex for trying to make a diagnosis as a surgeon and cautioned him to stand down.
Of course, Alex didn’t back down and convinced Bailey to take a different course with the pancreatic cancer patient.
His advice paid off, and the woman’s baby survived instead of being aborted.
Although Alex dodged a bullet this time, Movie Fone reports that the drama is just heating up.
In fact, both Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Andrew DeLuca) both hinted that Alex is really put to the test during his upcoming trial on Grey’s Anatomy.
“Oh, the trial… wows!” Hinton shared. “We just had the table read for the midseason finale the other day, and that reaches a fever pitch.”
Gianniotti couldn’t agree more.
“This attack could stay with him for a while,” he added. “It’s tough.”
Fortunately, there are still a few more episodes before Alex’s drama-filled trial takes center stage.
Ahead of the midseason finale, fans will be introduced to Eliza Minnick, Marika Dominczyk’s brand new consultant.
Furthermore, Bridget Regan will make an appearance in a coming episode, though it still isn’t known who the actress will be playing.
At the same time, Seattle PI is reporting that a few romances are headed to Grey Sloan Memorial.
This includes Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) newfound romance with DeLuca.
While Alex beat up DeLuca for falsely believing that he was making a move on his girl, it now looks like the two really are going to get together.
Considering Alex’s previous reaction to this situation, things aren’t looking good for this love triangle.
To make things even more complicated, Jo has a lot of secrets still lurking in her past. Not only is she still married, but her estranged husband physically abused her and is a real threat to anyone near her.
Luddington is also pregnant in real life, so there is a possibility that her character will undergo a similar change shortly.
The other romance fans might watch unfold is between Alex and Meredith.
The two have been best friends over the years but never took their friendship to the next level.
This seemingly changed when Alex beat DeLuca and Meredith took his side.
Admittedly, fans have long suspected that Alex and Meredith would get together, and the recent events hint that their romance is right around the corner.
In the latest installment, Alex and Meredith had their little conversation in bed, which is a major nod at their rumored romance.
That being said, Alex has a lot on his plate right now and starting a romance with Meredith might not be at the top of his list.

Depending on what happens to Alex at the trial, his departure from Grey Sloan Memorial would definitely be a major obstacle to his relationship with Meredith.
Unfortunately, it sounds like fans will have to watch the drama unfold to find out what happens to Alex and whether or not Rhimes gives him the ax this season.
