Flavor Flav Arrested For Alleged Assault, Domestic Violence
Las Vegas police arrested rapper Flavor Flav early this morning in connection with a domestic disturbance, according to various news outlets.
Channel 13, the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas, reports the following:
“According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department, a call was received at about 3:30 a.m. this morning from a woman that said that her fiancee was threatening a 17-year-old teenager in the home.
“The caller also said that her fiancee had assaulted her.”
Police arrived at the home and took Flavor Flav (real name William Drayton, Jr.) into custody. Flavor Flav faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic violence (battery). He is being held on $23,000 bail.
Citing law enforcement sources, TMZ reports that after a “heated verbal argument with the teenager in his house, as well as his fiancee… Flav allegedly threatened one person with a knife during the argument, and battered the other — it’s unclear which person he threatened, and which he physically attacked.”
Flavor Flav originally burst onto the music scene as a member of the hip-hop group Public Enemy. More recently he appeared on several VH1 reality shows including Flavor of Love.
The VH1 website contends that Flavor Flav served 30 days in jail in 1991 for assaulting a girlfriend and in 1993 was charged with attempted murder in a shooting incident. VH1 adds that “most of his violent offenses seemed to wind down in the late nineties after he went to rehab for crack cocaine, but that didn’t stop his run-ins with the law” in relation to various driving infractions.
