A-Rod Flirts With Fans From The Bench During Critical Game Against Detroit
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is the highest paid player in baseball right now. A-Rod has been one of the sports most preeminent superstars for the last ten years. Yet, on Saturday at Yankee Stadium, he managed to anger a whole bunch of New Yorkers after being pulled from the game for a pinch runner in the 12th inning. Rodriguez decided to spend his time flirting with girls from the bench instead of concentrating on his team and being there for support, according to The New York Post.
After A-Rod was removed from the game on Saturday, he walked over to the bench and saw a couple of good looking Yankees fans sitting watching the game. He reportedly walked over to the ball boy and had him pass the girls a ball with the message that they should write their phone numbers on it and then throw the ball back into the dugout.
A witness who saw the whole exchange told the Post:
“One of the girls, with darker blond hair, wrote … on the ball and threw it back at A-Rod, who gave her a big smile.”
Some of the fans who witnessed the whole thing were far from happy with the star, who makes almost 30 million dollars a year to play for the Yankees. One angry fan who witnessed the event said:
“I was absolutely stunned that even … A-Rod would not be focusing on such a critical game, supporting his teammates, and was instead more interested in adding another couple of phone numbers to what must be a very, very large collection,”
Rodriguez has been pinch hit for twice in the first two games and benched completely in the third at Comerica Park in Detroit. He has been heavily criticized for not hitting well as of late. A-Rod is 3-for-23 with 12 strikeouts in the playoffs.
The Yankees trail Detroit 3-0 in the best of 7 ALCS.
Do you think it is unprofessional that A-Rod was flirting with girls instead of supporting his team?
