‘Teen Mom’ OG: Catelynn Lowell Cried Over Carly’s Adoption Agreement In New Sneak Peek [Video]

Reality TV stars Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have come a long way since fans were first introduced to them and their story on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. In a sneak peek for next week’s episode of their current show Teen Mom OG, Catelynn cried when she and Tyler endured another heartbreaking moment when they struggled to come to terms with their agreement with the adoptive parents of their firstborn daughter, Carly.

In the Teen Mom OG sneak peek, Catelynn Lowell cried after her and her husband met with their adoption counselor Dawn at a café in their home state of Michigan. Dawn greeted the couple with hugs and congratulated them on their one-year anniversary of marriage, Us Weekly reported. But once they sat down, the conversation switched from Catelynn and Tyler to the adoptive parents of their daughter Carly, Brandon and Teresa.

When Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra were teenagers, they starred on MTV’s reality series 16 and Pregnant, which documented their experience dealing with unplanned pregnancy at a young age. They decided to place their daughter Carly up for adoption because they believed that they weren’t able to care for a child and they felt that Carly would have a better upbringing with Brandon and Teresa, according to MTV. Eight years later, Catelynn Lowell and her husband Tyler Baltierra are now married and are raising their second daughter, 21-month-old Novalee together, but they’re struggling to keep an open relationship with their now seven-year-old daughter Carly and her adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa.

Catelynn told Dawn that she recently contacted Teresa via text message to try to set up their annual visit with Carly and Catelynn sounded sad when she said that Teresa has not responded to any of her messages. Catelynn explained to Dawn that all she wanted to was go out and visit with Brandon, Teresa, and Carly for at least one day and have brunch the next morning before they head back to Michigan.

“So, what I wanna do, I brought my folder in,” Dawn told the couple in the Teen Mom OG sneak peek. “I wanna take you guys back to 2009 and I want to show you some things that you signed with me.”

Dawn gave Catelynn and Tyler each a copy of the adoption agreement that they signed seven years ago as 16-year-olds and explained that the contract is the foundation of their relationship between them as birth parents and Brandon and Teresa as adoptive parents.

“You said ‘no’ to ongoing face-to-face, and you could request visits with the adoptive family in the future to be initiated by Catelynn and Tyler—which is what you’ve been doing, and at the discretion of the adoptive family as they determine what is in the best interest of Carly,” Dawn said, reading out loud from the contract.

“They need to just let me know, like are we done with visits forever?” Catelynn asked out loud in the Teen Mom OG sneak peek. “Until she’s 18, I’ll hear nothing from her?”

Dawn said that she doesn’t think Brandon and Teresa will stop Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baliterra from seeing Carly forever, but Catelynn said she would just appreciate a phone call from her daughter’s adoptive parents so that they could talk it over. Dawn advised that Catelynn and Tyler just focus on asking for updates on Carly and stop asking for visits altogether, which frustrated Catelynn even more.

“I hate not having an answer,” Catelynn cried. “It’s just f**king frustrating because I was f**king 16 years old when I made this decision.”
