Morgan Freeman Says Hillary Clinton Is His ‘Madam Secretary’ Inspiration, Still ‘A Little Bit Worried’ About The Election


Morgan Freeman is an incredibly talented actor, a celebrity who wears many showbiz hats. The popular Oscar winner has acted in more than 100 films throughout his amazing career that’s spanned more than four decades. Morgan Freeman is also the talented director of Bopha!, the 1993 political drama set against the backdrop of South Africa’s struggle against racial segregation.

The highly respected actor has credited Clint Eastwood with giving him the motivation to become a director. The Driving Miss Daisy actor learned many tricks of the trade while working under Eastwood’s direction in Unforgiven.

Morgan Freeman, born in June 1937, is still a very busy actor and will soon feature in upcoming movies such as Going in Style and Villa Capri. With his beautifully profound and authoritative voice, Freeman has also worked in narration and documentary storytelling by working in The Story of God with Morgan Freeman, a National Geographic television series in which he explores various cultures and religions in an attempt to understand the meaning of God.

Additionally, the actor is narrating and hosting Discovery Channel’s Through the Wormhole, a science documentary series that aims to answer philosophical questions by understanding space and universe. Morgan Freeman’s roles in both of these documentary series are reminiscent of his recurring character of God in Bruce Almighty and its spinoff, Evan Almighty.

The veteran actor, who became famous by acting in movies like Shawshank Redemption, achieves a delicate balance between his diverse activities in Hollywood. This highly respected actor’s multitasking capabilities can be attributed to his naturally curious nature, which became evident when he earned his private pilot’s license at the age of 65. According to CBS News, Charlie Rose, the co-host of CBS This Morning, complimented the Along Came a Spider actor when he appeared on his show for being a man with seemingly unlimited enthusiasm.

“I just know that you’re a man who goes after his pursuits, whether it’s flying or whether it’s directing or whether it is, in a sense, giving expression to your curiosity, you do it.”

Morgan Freeman has also extended his narrative skills to the political arena. He became popular with the audience of the Democratic National Convention where he worked as a narrator, lending his voice to Shonda Rhimes’s short film on Hillary Clinton. Irrespective of his political orientation, Morgan Freeman is particularly impressed by three female politicians who have been America’s former secretaries of state, namely Madeline Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Hillary Clinton.

Motivated by these powerful female politicians, Freeman teamed up with Lori McCreary and Barbara Hall to produce Madam Secretary, CBS’s political drama whose lead character is a female secretary of state. Besides producing the show, Morgan Freeman directed the third season premiere of the popular series that won a Sentinel Award for its dramatic storyline.

This highly talented professional has credited the show’s actors for helping him effectively execute his directorial stint because they provided him with much-needed support and cooperation. Moreover, Morgan Freeman features in the show by playing the role of Chief Justice Wilbourne. According to Yahoo, the actor and Barbara Hall were particularly inspired by Hillary Clinton’s 11-hour cross-examination by the House Select Committee which was attempting to ascertain her negligence in preventing an attack on a U.S. outpost in Benghazi.

The Seven actor claims that Madam Secretary is not based on the life of the former secretary of state who is currently contesting the upcoming U.S. presidential elections. According to CBS News, Freeman admitted to being very nervous about the outcome of the upcoming presidential election.

“Well I’m like everybody else. My fingers are crossed. I mean, everything is crossed – eyes. Am I worried? A little bit, just a little bit. I think we’re at a serious crossroads in terms of who we are.”
