In the latest WWE news, the Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar sequel match has been a hot topic for pro wrestling fans with predictions and rumors flying over who will get the big victory. The match is set to go down at this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, and both wrestlers have made appearances on WWE Raw to promote the bout. Goldberg was also recently on Jim Ross’ podcast show and the topic of Brock and the rematch came up again. The former WWE champion, known for his catchphrase of “Who’s Next?,” talked about the potential fan reactions to him in the ring and what he wants to happen.
According to Uproxx in their report , one quote that stuck out from Goldberg had to do with the potential that he gets booed in his return to the ring. The former WCW and WWE champion just wants everyone to have fun, though and isn’t going to let any negative fan noise get to him.
“At the end of the day, I hope everybody has fun. And if I just so happen to get booed, then, I am surely not going to go out and end my life because of it. At the end of the day, it’s other people’s interpretation upon your act at that moment, so if I get booed, then, I’ll take it out on Brock more so than I’m doing already.”
It seems so far that fans across the United States have been mostly receptive of Goldberg during his appearances on Raw or even when he’s not there. During the recent segment in which Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar spoke in the ring in Lesnar’s home area, the “Gold-berg” chants continued to be very noticeable. That said, the latest Survivor Series is taking place at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre which will likely not be a friendly environment for Bill when he steps into the ring.
The backstory on the hate that Goldberg gets in Canada has to do with an incident during the WCW Starrcade pay-per-view in Washington, D.C., in 1999. Goldberg challenged Bret Hart for the WCW World Heavyweight Title in the main event. During that No Disqualification match, Goldberg connected on a mule kick which gave Hart a concussion. That kick also ended up costing Hart his career, as the injury eventually forced him to retire from professional wrestling. Due to Hart’s loyal fanbase in his home territory, it makes perfect sense that the guy who ended his career will draw boos.

In a strong bit of irony, Goldberg was on The Steve Austin Show back in July of this year and spoke about possibly moving to Canada. According to Wrestling Inc , his reason behind the potential move was due to the upcoming American presidential election being based upon “outrageousness” and “personality” instead of more important things.
Goldberg even spoke of his future WWE opponent during that July interview and said he may consider a similar move across the border.
“Yes, I’m going to vote. Am I going to vote like I’m blindfolded or I’m throwing a dart at a dartboard? Man, I think I’m going to follow in Brock’s footsteps. I’m moving to Canada.”
The “moving to Canada” statement tends to be one that a lot of people make with regards to the elections, but not many follow through on. In the case of Bill Goldberg, he’s likely to get a tough reaction in his return bout with Lesnar at Air Canada Centre. The fans have also embraced Brock more since he has actually moved to Canada himself. Whether or not Goldberg will really do the same, remains to be seen, but he still seems far from a fan favorite in the area.
WWE fans, do you feel the fans at Air Canada Centre will be receptive to Goldberg or continue to shower him with boos? Are the boos justified due to what happened in his match with Bret Hart, or should fans accept Hart’s injury as a part of the risks that wrestlers face in the ring?
