‘Southern Charm’ Is Expanding To Savannah, And Maybe More Southern Cities

With the success of the original Southern Charm, which takes place in Charleston, South Carolina, Bravo has decided to expand to Savannah, Georgia. Southern Charm Savannah will follow six friends “in a posh city filled with heirs and socialites.” And if it’s anything like the original Southern Charm, Southern Charm Savannah will be more like heirs putting on airs.

While the new Southern Charm Savannah prepares to get underway, Season 4 of the original Southern Charm is shooting around Charleston, reports the Inquisitr. Though she was a late addition to the Season 4 cast, Kathryn Calhoun Dennis has just signed a contract, and has been shooting with almost all of the other cast members, with the exception of Landon Clements and Whitney’s mama, Patricia, who have banded together over their disdain of Kathryn.

Unlike the original Southern Charm, which threw together people who really didn’t know each other well before the show, Southern Charm Savannah will focus on six cast members who are lifelong friends, says Variety. The Savannah installment of Southern Charm is also being produced by Haymaker Productions with Aaron Rothman, Irad Eyal, Sara Nichols, Luke Neslage, and Jessica Chesler serving as executive producers. Jason Weinberg and Whitney Sudler-Smith also serve as executive producers, but it is unclear if Bryan Kestner is affiliated with the new project.

Southern Charm‘ Thomas Ravenel Wants All His Fans To Vote…

Was Alcohol To Blame For Bizarre ‘Southern Charm‘ Dinner Party At…

There has been buzz for some time that there would be a Southern Charm Savannah, and a Southern Charm New Orleans, but as of now, only Savannah has been formally announced by Bravo. Fans are wondering if lightening will strike twice (if not three times) south of the Mason-Dixon Line, but they will have to wait and see. There will likely be at least a bit of crossover, as in Shep and Craig taking a road trip to Savannah? We will have to wait and see.

Bustle is suggesting that Real Housewives is passe, and that a Southern Charm franchise might just be the next new big thing. Fans will now be able to have a double serving of sweet tea with Southern Charm leading into Southern Charm Savannah, and perhaps Thomas Ravenel can drive down the road and meet some new young women he hasn’t hit on yet.

There is no reason that the Southern Charm formula wouldn’t work in just about any city in the south. A mix of party girls, Peter Pans, and a small dash of Trustifarians (trust fund babies to the uninitiated), plus a good serving of liquor, and you have a show that seems like it would smell like Paco Rabanne and regret. Plug in a judgmental grande dame, and you’ve got a show.

Savannah will feature “six lifelong friends, as they love and fight in a place rich with history.” It is unclear if the entire cast of the new Southern Charm will be populated entirely of folks who never have to get up for work, but fans will have to wait and see.

So get your cocktail shaker ready, and make sure you have plenty of fresh mint, because Southern Charm Savannah should likely debut in the spring.

Charleston City Paper is likening Southern Charm to a disease, or a rash that is spreading, and little can be done about it, and suggests what residents of Savannah should expect from the reality show taking hold.

“People will be very upset that the show is an insult to your city’s rich history and culture. They will make this clear by commenting on the internet. Those comments will be collected, cataloged, and stored in the local Hall of Records to tell future generations about the time that a courageous group of citizens banded together to protect a city beset by cable TV carpetbaggers.”

So, good luck residents of Savannah, Charleston seems to think you might need it.
