WWE News: Attitude-Era Tag Team Shockingly Returning To WWE On Next Week’s ‘SmackDown Live’
The tag team division in WWE has really grown to prominence once again over the last couple of years and now, there are two great divisions between both shows. It’s also no secret that some of the most memorable names and talents came out of the WWE Attitude Era of the mid to late ’90s, and the company isn’t forgetting that. Perhaps, that is the reason that a tag team from that era will return to SmackDown next week as The Headbangers are back.
Mosh and Thrasher are on their way back to WWE once again and are looking to get back in the good graces of WWE, according to WrestleZone. Not only are they making a return to SmackDown, but they are competing for a shot at being on the card for next month’s Survivor Series.
Well, it looks like the Headbangers will have a chance to qualify for the #SDLive Survivor Series Team! Watch out Jersey, we’re coming home!

Next week’s episode of SmackDown Live takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and it will begin the true build for Survivor Series. On Sunday, Raw will hold their Hell in a Cell event and from there, all the focus will be on the traditional November pay-per-view.
SmackDown has already been building up toward the Survivor Series by running qualifying matches for those to be on the respective elimination tag match teams. Now, the Survivor Series tag team elimination match has one team being built, but SmackDown has two more spots to fill.
As shown by the official page for the event on WWE‘s website, SmackDown tag champions Rhyno and Heath Slater are already going to be joined by the Hype Bros., but one more team needs to join the four men.
Thrasher and Mosh first parted ways with WWE back in 2000 and 2001 and there was not the best relationship between The Headbangers and WWE. Since then, it appears as if things have been smoothed over and it led to the team returning on the August 30th edition of SmackDown Live as recapped by the official website of WWE.
On that episode, The Headbangers took on Heath Slater and Rhyno in a match in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament. They ended up losing the match, but it was an awesome bit of nostalgia to see them back in a WWE ring.
So far, the team that The Headbangers will be facing off against for the final spots on the SmackDown Live team for Survivor Series is not yet known. It could be one of the other organized teams or it could be a combination of any superstars.
Rhyno and Heath Slater are on the Survivor Series team due to being the champions. The Hype Bros. defeated the Ascension to take their spot on the team. The Headbangers could end up facing off against American Alpha, The Vaudevillains, Fandango, The Usos, members of The Wyatt Family, or any combination of other superstars.
Whoever they are in a match against, it’s going to be an interesting night for an Attitude Era that has only appeared once for WWE in the past 16 years.
The return of The Headbangers may end up being very short-lived and it could be a one-off thing, but is it really going to be? They were already brought back at the end of August for a match in the SmackDown Tag Team Title Tournament and now, less than two months later, they return once more. Maybe some more names from the WWE Attitude Era will be showing up soon to excite both new and old fans.
