Black Pink, the rookie K-pop girl group created under YG Entertainment, made a major splash in the K-pop industry when they made their debut back in August. Releasing not one, but two debut songs — “Whistle” and “Boombayah” — the four-member group consisting of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé caught everyone’s attention. Nevertheless, the proof of their impact can be seen just in their first week . Both music videos for both of their songs collectively had over 26 million views and “Whistle” achieved an All-Kill meaning the song was number one on all local charts followed by a Perfect All-Kill meaning they were number one not just on local charts but Korea’s national chart. Not only that, “Whistle” was actually played during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Now Black Pink fans wait with bated breath as the popular rookie K-pop girl group will be making their K-pop comeback this coming month as revealed by YG Entertainment founder and CEO Yang Hyun Suk himself . The promotions for it have started to roll out as Black Pink, and YG Entertainment released its first promos, individual photos featuring Jennie and Lisa.
YG Entertainment and Black Pink released the first two teasers for Black Pink’s K-pop comeback on Tuesday, October 25, as reported by Soompi . As seen in the images attached above and below, they feature Jennie and Lisa respectively. It can also be discerned from said teaser images the girls are in a vehicle of some kind. We also know the title track for their upcoming comeback, a mini-album titled Square Two , is titled “Playing With Fire.”
Outside from what is provided from the attached two images, we do not know what to expect from Black Pink at this moment. It is possible the teasers will pick up a little later so not to coincide and compete with Twice, the K-pop girl group under JYP Entertainment enjoying success at the moment for their latest K-pop comeback, an extended play (EP) or mini-album titled TWICEcoaster: LANE 1 and its title track “TT.”
Taking into account how K-pop acts in the past released teasers, it can only be assumed Black Pink will release the remaining individual teasers featuring Jisoo and Rosé, a full track list for Square Two , group teasers, and video teasers especially one for the music video for “Playing With Fire.” After the mini-album drops, we know that Black Pink’s post-release promotions will last longer than the previous time they did post-release promotions for Square One . Black Pink will make their return to show competition promotions on Inkigayo , but they will also make more appearances on M! Countdown and variety show Weekly Idol , as mentioned by a source at YG Entertainment.
“Black Pink has received more love than we anticipated. Starting from the new track that’s revealed on November 1, Black Pink will be promoting on not only Inkigayo , but also Mnet’s M! Countdown as well. They are also planning on appearing on variety programs that are similar to MBC Every1’s Weekly Idol .”
In seven days, Black Pink will make their K-pop comeback on Tuesday, November 1, with the release of their new mini-album Square Two featuring their new title track “Playing With Fire.” Details of said upcoming mini-album are non-existent for the time being, but it is believed there will be a standard edition and a special edition.
