Drake Dumped: Why Rihanna & Nicki Minaj Skipped His Birthday Celebration
Drake found himself without his two most recent high-profile love interests when he celebrated his 30th birthday on October 24, as both Rihanna and Nicki Minaj skipped out on the celebration as the Drake and Nicki dating rumors continue to swirl.
Hollywood Life is reporting that Rihanna, who Drake was rumored to have been dating exclusively for the past several months, purposefully skipped out on the rapper’s big birthday party in West Hollywood amid rumors he’s now “infatuated” with Nicki, claiming that Rihanna’s still feeling “salty” when it comes to their recent breakup.
“[Rihanna’s] still mad at [Drake] for many reasons,” a source confirmed to the site of why Rihanna was absent from the “Hotline Bling” singer’s big birthday party, adding that Rihanna is still upset with her former boyfriend “because he’s such jerk who won’t commit and wants everything his way.”
But while Rihanna was noticeably absent as the Minaj dating rumors swirled around Drake, the site’s insider implied that Rihanna and Drake are still on speaking terms following their breakup.
“She absolutely wanted to be with him and celebrate but her pride wouldn’t let her,” the site claimed, while revealing that the twosome have spoken since E! News confirmed their split earlier this month.
“They are talking. She hit him up and they’re planning to celebrate,” the insider confirmed of Rihanna and Drake’s interactions post-breakup, “But she feels salty about how s*** went down in their relationship.”
Drake and Rihanna have so far stayed tight-lipped about the breakup, though Hollywood Life claimed earlier this year that Drake’s alleged feelings for Minaj may have played a part in their split.
A source alleged to the site that Rihanna and Drake supposedly “had an argument about Nicki because Drake kept rapping the lyrics to a few of his and Nicki’s [collaborations]” while the rapper continually gushed over his time in the studio with Minaj after the two collaborated on a number of tracks including “Truffle Butter” and “Moment 4 Life.”
The insider then went on to claim that Drake’s continued praise of Nicki Minaj left Rihanna feeling “jealous,” just days after a source alleged that the rapper is “infatuated” with Minaj and is now planning to wait for her to become single to they can start dating.
“Drake could never look at Rihanna and tell her that he’s in love with Nicki too,” the source added of the former couple’s breakup.
But as the rumors continue to swirl that Drake is now looking to start dating Minaj following his breakup with Rihanna, the site noted that Nicki was also noticeably absent from Drake’s big birthday celebration and instead opted to stay home with her boyfriend of two years, Meek Mill.
“Of course Nicki got an invite to be at Drake’s party. She wanted to attend and party with him and help him turn 30,” the site’s source revealed of Minaj, but alleged that the party invite amid the swirling dating rumors left Mill feeling “furious.”
According to the insider, Meek urged Nicki not to attend Drake’s celebration because, despite his and Minaj’s friendship, the two rappers have been locked in a notorious feud for years which recently boiled over again after Mill slammed Drake in a freestyle rap amid reports he’s now looking to start dating Minaj.
“They had a fight about it,” an insider alleged of Nicki and Meek of Drake’s party. “In the end, though, [Minaj] didn’t want to hurt Meek’s feelings — nor did she want to disrespect him by partying with Drake and being all touchy-feely with him — so Nicki didn’t go.”
