Jared Fogle’s Ex-Wife Sues Subway, They Knew He Was A Pedophile

Jared Fogle’s ex-wife, Kathleen McLaughlin, says that Subway knew for more than a decade before his arrest that her now ex-husband was a pedophile, and that is why she is suing. She also claims that Subway decided to paint Jared as a family man and used her likeness as well as the likenesses of their children without her permission. McLaughlin said the first complaint that Subway received about Jared was before the couple married, and if she had known, she never would have proceeded with the wedding.

McLaughlin has voiced her disgust with her former husband, who she believes has still not taken responsibility for his behavior, reports The Inquisitr. In court, lawyers for Jared Fogle tried to blame his pedophilia on his now famous Subway weight loss. From the time Jared Fogle first entered prison, he had his lawyers doing everything they could to reduce his sentence. Kathleen McLaughlin immediately filed for divorce when she heard about the investigation into Fogle’s wrongdoings.

Kathleen McLaughlin is pretty angry and holds Subway at least partially responsible for the difficulties she is currently facing, as her ex-husband, Jared Fogle, is now behind bars for child pornography and pedophilia. McLaughlin has gathered information that proves that Subway had received several complaints about Fogle and young girls before she married the Subway spokesman in 2004, says TMZ.

Before Fogle and McLaughlin got married, a Subway exec got a complaint that Fogle propositioned a young girl for a sex act at a promotional appearance in Las Vegas. Subway received at least two more similar complaints over the years, and still McLaughlin was only made aware that this situation went on behind her back when FBI agents entered her house and took the electronics.

The move for Subway to include Jared Fogle as a family man with a wife and children was made after the company was well aware that he was a pedophile and had serious problems.

At a press conference yesterday, Kathleen McLaughlin, who is best known as Katie, explained that Subway thought more about their bottom line and making money than they did about the health and safety of children, including her own, reports Huffington Post. Katie says that Subway organized events at schools while knowing about Jared Fogle’s interest in children is particularly disturbing. She claims that Subway considered Fogle a “cash cow,” and that is why they never blew the whistle on his pedophilia.

McLaughlin read a statement at her press conference.

“Finding out that Subway did not act upon at least one complaint while continuing to utilize Jared as their spokesperson and facilitate his visits to those hundreds of schools is beyond comprehension.”

The Las Vegas incident was reported to Subway’s vice president of marketing about Fogle asking a young girl to perform a sex act. As a result, someone from PR was asked to speak with Fogle about the incident.

“Driven by sales rather than the safety of kids, Subway sent its then senior public relations manager to ask Jared and the franchise owner, rather than the victim, about the incident.”

Four years after the Las Vegas situation, Subway’s then CEO Jeff Moody was contacted by a franchise owner, who claimed that Jared Fogle had made disturbing comments about children, including that he had sex with children, and “really liked them young.” Moody reportedly told the franchise owner that he need not hear any more.

“Please don’t tell me any more. Don’t worry, he has met someone. She is a teacher and he seems to love her very much, and we think she will keep him grounded.”

McLaughlin’s attorney, Mike Antrim, says that before filing this lawsuit and going public, Subway was contacted to settle the matter privately with no success.

“Our private efforts at communication with Subway have been unsuccessful and that’s what necessitated the filing of this lawsuit and the discovery process to begin.”
