Donald Trump Faces Criticism For Claiming The Emmys Were Rigged
Donald Trump doesn’t like losing and that was clearly evident when he claimed the Emmys were rigged. His reality TV show, The Apprentice, failed to secure an Emmy award and lost to The Amazing Race after being nominated in the reality show category.
Trump has been criticized by the Television Academy for his negative remarks about the Emmys. The billionaire and presidential candidate believes that he was cheated out of an Emmy award. In 2015, he narrated how he thought he was going to win an Emmy award for The Apprentice, but he ended up not receiving the award.
“Everybody thought I was gonna win it. Like, in fact, when they announced the winner, I stood up before the winner was announced. I started walking for the Emmy, and then they announced the most boring show on television, piece of crap. I literally stood up and started walking out,” explained Trump.
Trump’s claim against the Emmy awards highlights his attitude towards losing.
Trump was recently accused by his opponent Hillary Clinton of claiming that things were rigged. This was during the presidential debate on Wednesday. Earlier this week, the Television Academy responded to Trump through a tweet guaranteeing that the Emmys are not rigged. Professor Ellen Seiter of the University of Southern California stated that the Emmys are not a perfect system but described Trump as a loser in the TV industry.

Trump’s claims about rigged Emmy’s disputed.
Seiter narrated that Trump started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged against him after he failed to secure an award for three consecutive years. In 2012, Trump tweeted that the Emmy awards are politicized and that is why The Apprentice did not secure awards. He believes the show should have secured numerous wins. Celebrities, both winners and those who have missed out on Emmys, expressed their support for the claim that the Emmys are not rigged.

Hillary Clinton weighed in on Trump for his opposing statements. Trump stated that he would not accept defeat in the upcoming presidential election. This was pretty much similar to how he claimed that the Emmys were rigged, just because he did not win. Clinton pointed out that Trump thinks things are rigged every time they fail to happen as he expects.
“There’s a piece of his personality which is very sensitive, particularly to anything which attacks his own sense of integrity or his own sense of respectability, and he reacts very intensely, almost uncontrollably, to those kinds of situations,” stated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
The former House Speaker described Trump’s character as a weakness which he hopes Trump will one day learn to overcome. The presidential aspirant does not like conceding defeat, and a lot of questions have been raised with regards to what will happen or how he will behave if he loses the presidential race to Clinton.
As for the Emmy awards, Trump took to YouTube to complain that his show, The Apprentice was becoming less popular because the Academy awarded the wrong shows. He also stated that the Academy was not running a good operation and that it was in fact a con game. While Trump’s opinion has remained the same for years, the situation was brought to the public limelight when the Emmys were mentioned during the recent presidential debate. The Academy then responded to the shout-out.
The tweet from the Academy also pointed out that there is a rigorous process that goes into the nominations as well as the awards. Trump severed ties with NBC, the company behind his reality TV show, in 2015. It is, however, clear that the Emmys have nothing to do with Trump’s claims because that is simply how he responds when he fails to secure a win.
