Dakota Fanning On Tom Cruise’s Foot Fetish And Avoiding Hollywood Scandals

Dakota Fanning is one of those actresses who can bring a very unique performance to any role she undertakes and such is the case in the upcoming mystery/western, Brimstone, due out next March. As she was recently discussing her latest Brimstone role, Dakota found herself talking about more than just her current project. Ms. Fanning opened up about Tom Cruise’s lifelong kindness toward her, revealing that his acts of kindness might be leaning toward the unusual, and the Brimstone star also talked about growing up normal in Hollywood.

Does Tom Cruise Have A Fetish For Dakota Fanning’s Feet?

Now 22-years-old, Dakota Fanning has been acting since she was 6, and in that time, she has worked with some of Hollywood’s most legendary stars. Among those big names is Tom Cruise, who Fanning worked with on the 2005 sci-fi thriller, War of the Worlds. While it has been 11 years since Cruise and Fanning worked together, Dakota reveals that Tom has never forgotten her. In fact, he never misses a single birthday.

“He has sent me a birthday gift every year since I was 11 years old,” Ms. Fanning said. “Beautiful gifts.”

While that may be unusual for a Hollywood mogul like Tom Cruise, there’s nothing remotely odd about it. It seems Dakota made an impression on Cruise, and for that reason, he has always kept her in her heart. Ms. Fanning does express surprise by the fact that he still sends her presents, even though she has long left her childhood behind. Dakota says she expected Tom to stop sending the gifts, once she had reached 18, but, even now, at 22, Tom still sends the birthday presents.

Even stranger, Mr. Cruise has a specific type of present in mind, when it comes to surprising Dakota.

“It’s usually shoes,” Ms. Fanning revealed with a smile.

Perhaps, Tom knows that all women love shoes and he’s playing on that stereotype? For whatever reason, Cruise seems concerned with making sure Dakota Fanning walks in the best pumps money can buy. Certainly, a sweet thought.

Brimstone Star Dakota Fanning Is One Child Star That Didn’t Fall Prey To Hollywood’s Vices

Growing up in Hollywood is never easy, and some fail miserably at it, while others navigate the Hollywood lifestyle with maturity and relative ease. Dakota Fanning grew up in Hollywood with a level head and some good luck, so she does feel fortunate that she hasn’t stumbled as tragically as some others. Still, there are pitfalls to being a child star-turned-adult actress.

“I’ve made my peace with the fact that there will be some people who, for the rest of my life, will believe I’m, like, 9 years old. I have this joke that I’m literally going to be 35, married, and pregnant and people are still going to say, ‘Oh my god, you grew up so fast! I can’t believe it!’ And yeah, sometimes when you’re 21 years old and people are still saying that, you just want to rip your hair out. But I’m OK with it,” Fanning explained. “I know who I am.”

Dakota adds that there’s no rule book for being a child star, and as she grew up in Hollywood, she made her fair share of mistakes. Dakota says she did the best she could and acted as responsibly as she could, but, when it came right down to it, she was still just a child. Like any other child, Fanning often acted on emotion and on impulse like other children, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I’ve found that anybody who takes what they’re doing seriously or seems to be a caring person gets called an old soul,” says Dakota Fanning.
