Tyler Perry’s ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’: Box Office Results Top ‘Jack Reacher’, Cast Talks About Fun On The Set
Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween debuted in theaters on Friday. Two days later, box office results continue to show promise, according to Deadline Hollywood. The latest movie in the Madea franchise is slated to generate more than $27 million in ticket sales, this weekend alone. At this point, no one is really sure how high that number will climb. But things are looking good.
When it comes to new releases, Tyler Perry and his alter ego Madea are known for their ability to generate scads of fan interest, right off the bat. Everyone involved with the production is hoping that this high-level interest will remain consistent for as long as it possibly can.

So far, Boo! A Madea Halloween seems to appeal to a wider audience than previous Madea offerings. The president of Lionsgate’s domestic theatrical distribution David Spitz has already indicated that the movie is crossing over nicely. He has high hopes that the film will over perform next weekend as well.
The typical Tyler Perry production attracts an up to a 90 percent African American audience. So far, the audience watching Boo! A Madea Halloween has been comprised of 32 percent Caucasian and Latino viewers and 60 percent African American viewers.
If you have a few minutes, you’re invited to watch the following video. It gives you an inside look at what Tyler Perry and the rest of the cast have to say about the fun they had while filming the movie.
The plot isn’t far-fetched, sci-fi or way out there. It’s just a twist on what might happen on a typical Halloween night at a frat party. Bella Thorne explains it like this.
“If you’re a Tyler Perry fan then you should definitely come out and see this. Tyler says it’s his best one yet and so excited. He thinks this is going to be the biggest one he’s ever had, which is like crazy and amazing. If you haven’t seen the films, you should still see it because you don’t need to see the other ones to tag along with this one. Um… it’s fun, it’s adventurous, it’s a little bit scary. But, kind of more jokey scary.”
Perry hand-picked several of the Boo! A Madea Halloween cast members, after either watching their YouTube channel or following them on Instagram. This includes Lisa Koshy, Yousef Erakat, and Lexy Panterra.

A recent Inquisitr report discussed how Tyler Perry really feels about playing the role of Mabel “Madea” Simmons and what prompted him to go ahead with Boo! A Madea Halloween. He revealed that the character is actually a cross between his mother and his aunt. Watching Eddie Murphy play multiple roles in The Klumps also had something to do with it. Perry had this to say about some of Madea’s personality traits.
“She’s a strong, witty, loving, I mean really, just like my mother used to be before she died. She would beat the he** out of you but make sure the ambulance gets here in time to make sure they could set your arm back, you know what I mean? Because the love was there inside all of it.”
Yes, there are scary clowns in Boo! A Madea Halloween. But, Tyler Perry wants to make it abundantly clear that he has nothing to do with the recent scary clown epidemic that’s going on around the country. Production was completed on his movie long before the real-life clowns started to appear.
Do you have plans to purchase tickets to see Boo! A Madea Halloween? If the answer is yes, feel free to come back and share your thoughts. And, as Madea would say… Happy Hellurween!
