WWE News: Michael Hayes Says Bret Hart WWE Hall Of Fame Complaints Have Nothing To Do With Freebirds
Earlier in October, Bret “The Hit Man” Hart was doing an interview and said that the Fabulous Freebirds did not deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. He then insulted the Freebirds and listed names that he felt deserved to be in over the Freebirds. Michael Hayes was on a recent episode of The Ric Flair Show and spoke out about Hart’s comments.
Just to catch people up, Bret Hart was complaining about names like his brother Owen Hart, former manager Jimmy Hart, and others like the Rougeau Brothers, Demolition, and more getting into the WWE Hall of Fame.

As the Inquisitr reported at the time, Bret Hart then said the Freebirds never drew any money, were drunk all the time, and were pill heads and screw-ups. It was harsh comments about the WWE Hall of Fame tag team and something that Hart later regretted saying.
The Inquisitr reported just one week later that Bret Hart apologized for making the comments. His apology was to Michael Hayes and he admitted that the Freebirds did great things with the Von Erich family and he apologized for disrespecting the Freebirds with his comments.

However, Bret Hart did not back down from his opinions about the WWE Hall of Fame. He still seems to believe that there are plenty of people who deserve to be in the hall outside of the Freebirds, from the deserving names like Ravishing Rick Rude, Jimmy Hart, Brian Pillman, and Davey Boy Smith to some questionable choices like The Killer Bees.
When asked by Ric Flair about the Bret Hart comments, Michael Hayes said that Hart has every right to have an opinion about the WWE Hall of Fame and who belongs there. However, as Hayes pointed out, it has nothing to do with the Freebirds.

“Bret knows why Owen is not in the Hall Of Fame and it has nothing to do with The Fabulous Freebirds. I can tell you that. And the other guys that are in, whether you agree with that opinion or not, you’re entitled to it, but The Freebirds don’t have anything to do with them not going in or not going in as of yet.”
What Michael Hayes is alluding to is that Owen Hart is not in the WWE Hall of Fame because of his widow. Owen’s widow Martha Hart holds a strong grudge against the WWE because her husband died in a stunt when he fell from the ceiling into a WWE ring and snapped his neck.

Smith Hart, the brother of Bret Hart and Owen Hart, took to Facebook in January of this year to explain that neither Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, the Hart Foundation, nor the Hart family would end up in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. The reason, he explained, was Martha Hart.
“The reason given for the lack of an Owen induction is still our former Sister in law, Martha who still holds a grudge as if the tragedy happened days ago. Personally, I wouldn’t blame Bret or anyone in my family if they boycotted this year’s show.”
Bret Hart said that the Owen Hart DVD was not as good as it could have been because Martha Hart handcuffed the WWE in what they were allowed to use.
“I think Owen would turn in his grave if he knew how much trouble Martha has gone to erase his career and make sure that nobody enjoys anything about his career today.”
So, while Bret Hart is angry about the continued absence of Owen Hart into the WWE Hall of Fame, it is not the Freebirds who should bear his anger but his own sister-in-law. Until she loosens the reigns, Owen Hart might never get his WWE Hall of Fame honors.
