Why ‘Force Awakens’ Star Daisy Ridley Was Almost Jealous Of ‘Rogue One’s’ Felicity Jones
This time last year, not many people had heard of Daisy Ridley. However, her stunning performance as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens soon put an end to that, as many were quick to praise her work, and she was clearly overjoyed as she ecstatically partook in the promotional campaign for the blockbuster.
In the coming weeks and months, Felicity Jones will be taking part in a similar promo blitz for Rogue One, and Daisy Ridley has admitted that she’s slightly jealous of her counterpart for the world wide tour she’s about to embark on.
During her interview with Yahoo Movies, Daisy Ridley admitted that these slight feelings of jealousy emerged when she sat down with Felicity Jones to discuss their work in the Star Wars franchise.
When asked about Rogue One, Daisy Ridley proclaimed, “I’m very excited to see it. I had a drink with Felicity a few weeks ago, she’s super cool.”

Ridley, who confessed that she and Jones did the most English thing possible and sat down for a cup of tea together so that they could exchange their stories, admitted that she became slightly envious of her drinking partner as she laid out her plans for the next few weeks.
When asked for further details about the discussion she had with Jones, Ridley recalled, “It was weird, I’ve talked so much retrospectively about what was going on [in the lead-up to Force Awakens]. It was so odd to be reliving it. And she gets to go talk about this film that she’s part of in all these amazing places.”
This then led Ridley to admit, “I feel like ‘jealous’ is the wrong word, but I had such a good time in the run-up to the film, and it was all so exciting. Knowing that she’s experiencing that is so great. Plus the film’s meant to be amazing, so it’s a fantastic continuation of the Star Wars world.”
As part of her promotional work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, 24-year-old Daisy Ridley, who before being cast by J.J. Abrams had only appeared in short films and in small roles in television and film, started her promotional work in London before traveling to Los Angeles, Seoul, and Mexico City before going on to visit numerous other cities across the world.
But did Daisy Ridley have any advice for Felicity Jones before the 33-year-old actress embarked on Rogue One’s press tour? It doesn’t sound so, as she admitted, “Oh God, I didn’t give her tips,” with Ridley well aware that the actress, who is nine years her senior, should be able to handle the endeavor, especially since she previously received a Best Actress nominee for her performance in The Theory of Everything.
Ridley continued, “She’s like a proper human being. She’s got everything nailed… We just talked about our filmmaking experiences. And I’ve been a huge fan of hers for a long time. Have you ever met her? She’s so great. So just to chill was really nice.”

There are various rumors surrounding both Rogue One, which is a prequel to Star Wars: A New Hope, and the upcoming eighth and ninth installments to the Star Wars saga, especially surrounding the relationship between Ridley’s Rey and Jones’ Jyn Erso that have suggested that Jyn Erso could be the mother to Rey.
When pushed for a response on this theory, Ridley remarked, “I don’t know. That’ll be interesting when I see [Rogue One]. But I don’t watch things and think in that way. So I think I’m just gonna watch it and be blown away.”
We’ll learn more when Rogue One is finally released on December 16, while Star Wars 8 will follow on December 15, 2017, and Star Wars 9 will then arrive on May 24, 2019.
