Ridley Scott Says ‘Prometheus’ And ‘Blade Runner’ Sequels Are On The Way
Director Ridley Scott claims that sequels to both Prometheus and Blade Runner will be on the way to theaters in the coming years, according to the Metro. Regardless of whether or not you enjoyed the filmmaker’s latest sci-fi adventure, the film’s box office receipts have prompted executives at 20th Century Fox to give the follow-up the proverbial green light. If, like me, you thought Alien was the sequel to Prometheus, then you have been seriously misled.
Ridley Scott recently took a moment to discuss the project, which already counts Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender amoung the cast.
“[The film] evolved into a whole other universe. You’ve got a person with a head in a bag that functions and has an IQ of 350. It can explain to her how to put the head back on the body and she’s gonna think about that long and hard because, once the head is back on his body, he’s dangerous,” the director explained.
As far as that Blade Runner sequel you’ve been hearing rumors about, apparently that’s in the works as well. “It’s not a rumor – it’s happening,” Scott said. “With Harrison Ford? I don’t know yet. Is he too old? Well, he was a Nexus-6 so we don’t know how long he can live. And that’s all I’m going to say at this stage.”
Of course, before the sequels to Prometheus and Blade Runner can happen, Scott will have to put the finishing touches on his next project, the legal thriller The Counselor. The film — which stars Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, and Cameron Diaz — chronicles the exploits of a lawyer who finds himself in hot water after getting involved with drug trafficking. According to Internet Movie Database, the movie is presently slated to hit theaters on November 15.
