WWE News: Paige Proposes To Alberto Del Rio Against Her Father’s Wishes

Things between the WWE and women’s superstar Paige have gotten very strange and antagonistic over the past few months. Interestingly, before the suspensions and talk of surgeries, the big problem was that WWE rumors indicated that the WWE as trying to force Paige to break up with boyfriend Alberto Del Rio.

Rolling Stone reported that the chances of that happening are now very slim because Paige proposed to Alberto Del Rio in the middle of a wrestling ring in Puerto Rico after Del Rio wrestled in a match. It also sounds like the WWE isn’t the only people who didn’t want the two together as Wrestling Inc reported that Paige’s father Ricky Knight posted on Facebook that he did not want his daughter to marry “that man.”

Knight has since removed that Facebook post, but the damage was already done. The fact that he is against Paige marrying Alberto Del Rio could come from a number of reasons. The first is that Alberto Del Rio is still married.

PWMania reported that Raymond Rafool, the attorney representing Alberto Del Rio’s wife in his divorce, said that the two are still married and there is a huge battle going on. He also had a warning for Paige.

“They are far from [the divorce being finalized] at this stage. Of course, Paige should watch carefully how Alberto is denying and treating his current wife and the mother of his children in this divorce. History repeats itself.”

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet back in August, the marriage between Alberto Del Rio and Angela Velkei ended on May 27, 2016, and the cause of the divorce filing by Velkei was based on adultery claims. The timing of the divorce filing came two weeks after Alberto Del Rio and Paige admitted they were dating.

However, Alberto Del Rio filed documents in his part of the divorce claiming that the relationship with his wife ended in June 2015 and was due to her “cruel treatment” towards him. Del Rio also says he filed for divorce in Mexico, since that is where they were married, and he is demanding that she undergo a psych evaluation. Both want custody of their children.

Those are solid reasons for why the father of Paige is against the marriage right now. It should also be noted that the first matches that Alberto Del Rio accepted when he received his WWE release were in the U.K. for the wrestling promotion owned by the family of Paige.

That means that her family had a chance to meet Del Rio and this is the reaction that the engagement sparked from her father. Paige’s dad was also very open on Facebook when he accused the WWE of not medically taking care of his daughter for her injured neck.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Alberto Del Rio leaked a doctor’s diagnosis of Paige that revealed that she had a disc herniation that was causing all her upper extremity pain and some of her neck pain. The doctor also said that she has a lot of wear and tear in her body for someone of her age.

The WWE had previously reported that they did not think that Paige needed surgery for her injuries and was possibly unwilling to pay for them. Paige is still out of action and traveling with Alberto Del Rio as he continues his wrestling career. In some interesting side news, EWrestling reported that Paige was no longer shown in the WWE Monday Night Raw intro.
