WWE News: Brock Lesnar Returns To ‘Raw’ On October 24
It’s official: the latest WWE news is reporting that not only is Brock Lesnar returning to Raw, he’s doing so in his hometown of Minneapolis! This is sure to be a ratings winner for Raw, whose ratings — according to WWE news reports — are slowly dwindling to the point of cancellation.
That’s according to the latest WWE news report from Wrestling, Inc., who think that this will also be the night that Brock Lesnar will fight Goldberg, whose return to the WWE ring is long overdue. We’ll recall that the last time these two faced off was also the last time Goldberg was in the ring, and it was an ignoble end to Goldberg’s wrestling career. So, we can fully expect that this rematch between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, which is 12 years in the making, is going to be a brutal one.
Though Brock Lesnar’s return to the Raw ring has only recently been confirmed, Daniel Bryan dropped the hint about Goldberg’s return on last week’s episode of Talking Smack during SmackDown. And because Bryan likes talking about contracts, he also revealed that Goldberg has been officially signed to the Raw brand, which is sure to be another ratings boost for the fledgling Raw.
Meanwhile, according to Sportskeeda‘s latest WWE news reports, Goldberg is scheduled for a number of appearances on Raw before he fights at Survivor Series. But this begs the question: if he fights Brock Lesnar on October 24, before Survivor Series, what’s going to happen during Survivor Series?
One theory that Sportskeeda lays out is that we’ll find out all of the details on Monday when Goldberg appears in Denver for the next episode of Raw. On his Twitter, Goldberg promised that we’ll be hearing him answer Paul Heyman’s challenge directly, so we’ll probably get the exact date that Goldberg and Brock Lesnar will face off at that time.
Another thing that Sportkeeda mentions as a possibility is that this fight between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg is merely going to be the first in a series, in an attempt to get the ratings up for Raw. Both Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are ratings draws, though for entirely different reasons. However, Brock Lesnar — as Paul Heyman is the first to point out — doesn’t always appear on Raw, so when he fights, he makes it count. It should be interesting to see if the reappearance of these two superstars drives the ratings up.
Finally, according to PWMania‘s recent WWE news reports, if you should so happen to miss Goldberg’s appearance on this week’s Raw, you can definitely catch him when Raw comes to Buffalo, NY, on November 14. This will be, of course, six days before Survivor Series, so it should be interesting to see who he will fight at that time and what that means for Survivor Series.
The Key Bank Center in Buffalo, which is playing host to the last match Goldberg will be in before Survivor Series, has also made the official announcement about Goldberg’s return, but like Sportskeeda, PWMania is wondering if Goldberg’s return to Raw is enough to save the ratings of the brand. Certainly, wrestling fans who are old enough to remember Goldberg in his prime will love to see him return to the ring, but the question is, do the younger wrestling fans have enough respect for their history to honor Goldberg’s return? And has Raw degenerated enough to lose its viewership for good?
We’ll find out beginning on Monday, when Goldberg makes his official return to Raw.
