Shawn Mendes Ditching Camila Cabello For Chloe Grace Moretz? Are They Dating?
Is Shawn Mendes saying goodbye to Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello and hello to actress Chloe Grace Moretz?
According to reports, just days after Mendes publicly slammed rumors he’s dating Camila, the “Stitches” singer is now reportedly crushing on Moretz after a pretty flirty social media exchange.
“Shawn has had a crush on Chloe for the longest time,” a source revealed to Hollywood Life of the potential new couple following his Cabello dating denial. “In addition to being absolutely gorgeous, Shawn loves her quirky sense of humor and outspoken nature.”
The insider also went on to reveal that Mendes thinks that Chloe Grace is “super sharp and sassy” and claimed that Shawn and the actress actually spent some time together backstage at the 2015 American Music Awards last year.
“They spent a little time together at the American Music Awards last year, but at the time they were both dating other people,” the site’s source confirmed, referring to Moretz relationship with Brooklyn Beckham and seemingly reports claiming that Mendes once dated Cabello. “[Shawn’s] always had his eye on her. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s already asked her out on a date.”
Reports claiming that Mendes and Moretz could soon be dating comes just days after the potential new couple flirted on Twitter, when Shawn posted a topless black and white shot of himself on the social media site from his recent shoot for L’uomo Vogue magazine.
Chloe Grace then replied to Shawn’s tweet with a very flirty GIF, which showed her seemingly blushing and biting her thumb during a recent interview.
Chloe didn’t offer up any words to Shawn to coincide with the GIF, though her message certainly appeared to capture Mendes’ attention.

Shortly after Chloe Grace Moretz tweeted out the GIF, Shawn Mendes replied on the social media site, “Hahahahahahaha genius use of gifs x”
Notably, Moretz faced some pretty serious backlash for her flirty response after a number of Twitter users pointed out that Chloe publicly slammed Kim Kardashian for posting a nude selfie earlier this year, only to publicly praise Shawn for doing the same thing earlier this week.
Neither Moretz nor Mendes commented on reports that the two could potentially start dating in the not too distant future, though the dating rumors began to swirl just days after Shawn confirmed that he was single after being questioned about his relationship with Fifth Harmony star Camila Cabello.
Shawn and Camila have long been rumored to be dating ever since E! News reported back in October of 2015 that the two grew close while touring with Austin Mahone last year and while working on their duet, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
Mendes then appeared to add more fuel to the Cabello dating fire after seemingly confirming that he and Camila were once a couple during an interview with Capital FM, just days before Chloe tweeted Shawn the flirty GIF.
Shawn sent fans into a frenzy amid the dating rumors after being asked during the British radio interview on September 15 if Camila was a “good kisser.”
Rather then shutting down the dating reports swirling around himself and Camila, Mendes played coy and responded with a smile, “I don’t know… I don’t know that that means. She has too strong of a British accent. I couldn’t understand her.”
Fans were quick to take Mendes’ coy response as a dating confession after the singer always shut down the Cabello dating reports in the past, that is until Shawn shut down the reports for good in an interview with People just days later.
“A thing? No, we weren’t, actually,” Shawn responded when asked by the site about dating Camila, before Mendes added that he and Cabello are “just really close friends.”
“We’re not dating — nor did we,” continued Mendes of his friendship with Camila, but noted that he and the Fifth Harmony star did have an “instant connection” when they first met that led them to write and release their 2015 duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
“[Cabello] is one of those people who is just very easy to connect with and still, to this day, is one of my greatest friends,” Shawn, who has not publicly spoken out about the Chloe Moretz dating rumors, continued of Camila.
“You find that instant connection with people, and she’s one of them,” Mendes added amid the dating reports. “That’s a friendship that you have to hold on to forever.”
