Drake & Rihanna: Is Nicki Minaj Behind Their Breakup?

Drake and Rihanna have officially called it quits, but could Nicki Minaj have had something to do with their split?

According to reports, now that Drake is once again single after cooling things off with Rihanna, the rapper now supposedly has his sights set on Nicki and is ready to do all he can to win her heart.

Hollywood Life is alleging that Drake is now looking to date Nicki in the wake of his recent breakup with Rihanna, despite Minaj’s reported relationship with fellow rapper Meek Mill, who’s she’s thought to have been dating since 2014.

An insider revealed to the site that Drake is now planning to do some “dating around” after his Rihanna breakup, but is supposedly holding out for Minaj despite BET reporting earlier this week that Drake has already moved on and is now dating model India Love.

“Drake’s going to date around the block for a cool minute until the woman he truly wants is single,” an insider alleged to the site of Drake, alleging that the special lady on Drake’s mind is actually Minaj. “[Nicki’s] the epitome of everything he wants in a woman and, to be honest, the dude is infatuated with her,” a source revealed of Drake’s feelings for Minaj.

Though the site didn’t reveal if Drake’s supposed feelings for Nicki got in the way of his romance with Rihanna, Hollywood Life previously claimed that Drake and Rihanna both had a wandering eye prior to reports claiming that he was “infatuated” with Nicki, which was putting a serious strain on their dating exclusivity.

“Now that they seemingly have found the right person for each other they can’t really wrap their head around it,” a source said of Drake and Rihanna’s relationship, just days before their breakup was confirmed.

“They are trying to figure out each other in a relationship form,” the source then continued of Drake and his now former girlfriend prior to the Minaj rumors. “They are so familiar with being great friends, hooking up and then coming back to each other when it is convenient.”

E! News then went on to confirm Drake and Rihanna’s breakup just days later, reporting that both the two are now seeing other people after dating exclusively for the past few months.

“Rihanna and Drake are seeing other people at the moment,” a source told the site of the breakup. “They are not exclusive anymore. They still love each other, but their schedules have gotten in the way.”

But is there a chance that Drake and Nicki could potentially start dating now that the “Hotline Bling” rapper is single again?

Drake hasn’t been shy about his admiration for Minaj in the past, even claiming in the song “Truffle Butter,” a collaboration between himself, Nicki, and Lil Wayne, that he loves Nicki and even wants to marry her.

“I love Nicki Minaj/I told her I’d admit it/I hope one day we get married just to say we f***ing did it,” Drake rapped in the track, which was released back in 2010 before Minaj began dating Meek Mill. “And girl I’m f****** serious/I’m with it if you with it/Cause your verses turn me on and your pants are mighty fitted,” continued Drake according to Genius.com.

Nicki has stayed notoriously private when it comes to her two-year romance with Meek, though AllHipHop.com recently claimed that Minaj is actually now getting ready to break up with Mill because she feels his recent brushes with the law aren’t good for her image.

The site alleged amid the Drake rumors that “Nicki is having a hard time breaking up with Meek because she doesn’t want to look like she’s jumping ship at a time like this,” referring to Mill’s recent legal issues, including being placed under house arrest back in February.

An insider also alleged to the site that Minaj’s friends and family have “been urging her to get far away from Meek,” though Nicki has not commented on the rumors.

But while it sounds like both Drake and Nicki may find themselves single in the not too distant future, Minaj hasn’t been shy about the fact that she’s not exactly Drake’s biggest fan in the past.

This past August, Drake and Meek were rumored to be locked in a pretty nasty feud, during which time Hollywood Life reported that Minaj made it pretty clear that she was on team Mill amid the feud drama and allegedly even threatened to call out Drake in a song.

Claiming that Nicki was left “disappointed” with Drake amid his feud with Mill, a source told the site that Nicki was supposedly ready to “go in” on Drake with a diss track unless the feud with her boyfriend died down, though a diss track from Minaj has still yet to materialize.

“Nicki can put Drake on blast for a lot of things, including how he’s been after her for years, but she never gave in because she’s loyal to Meek,” a source claimed of Minaj’s feelings for Drake. “No doubt Meek and Nicki have issues but at the end of the day, Meek’s her man and she’ll ride hard for him.”
