WWE News: Paige Suspended For Drug Policy, Father Blames U.S. Health Care System
The WWE suspended WWE women’s superstar Paige and her boyfriend and former world champion Alberto Del Rio for failing the company drug tests back in August. According to Paige, the suspension came because she wasn’t able to get to the testing on time because she was out of state. The WWE just suspended Paige for a second violation today and ESPN reported that her father has leaped into the controversy.
Paige is from a wrestling family from the U.K. and her dad is Ricky Knight, a retired wrestler who promotes his own wrestling federation in the U.K. now. According to Knight, Paige has a prescription for painkillers for her neck, but the WWE has those painkillers on their banned supplement list. Knight then said that the entire U.S. health care system failed his daughter.
“My daughter has had a long term neck injury which imo has not been dealt with. i have ask my daughter to return to UK For help with this injury as help and direction in the USA Has not been forthcoming imo. She has been in pain and out of in ring action for a fair while now and has been prescribed pain killers which apparently is against the wellness program. i feel my daughter has been let down big time in the USA and the proper care and advice needed in the position she has been in has not happened to say i am pissed off with the situation is an understatement.”
This entire situation between the WWE and Paige has been simmering for too long now. When the WWE decided to split the brands, they made sure that real-life couples like Rusev and Lana, Dean Ambrose and Renee Young, John Cena and Nikki Bella, and Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella were kept on the same brands. However, they split up Alberto Del Rio and Paige.

The WWE rumors going around claimed that the WWE wanted Paige and Alberto Del Rio to break up and some claim that the WWE threatened Paige’s position with the company if it didn’t happen. However, the two did not break up and Del Rio told ESPN that they are together and happy and the WWE can’t do anything about it.
Now, it looks like Paige is on her way back home to the U.K. and there doesn’t seem to be a viable solution in sight. Alberto Del Rio already quit the WWE and received his release. However, Paige is now serving a 60-day suspension and there is a good chance she doesn’t return.
Unlike Alberto Del Rio, who has already started working for both Paige’s family’s company in the U.K. and in Mexico, Paige isn’t able to work anywhere while under WWE contract. There is also the fact that Paige might not be able to return to the ring for a long time based on her health.
Paige took to Twitter two weeks ago and said that she was going to need neck surgery for her injuries. She said the doctor she saw gave her two great surgery options and that she was ready to go under the knife to get better and return to the ring. However, Paige was then suspended for the painkillers that her father said was prescribed by her doctor.

Now, Paige is heading back home and will likely have her medical issues dealt with there. She will also be out of the reach of the WWE so they can’t continue to get in the way of her medical treatment if her father’s statements were true. The question now is whether or not the WWE Universe will ever see Paige in the ring again.
